Description
Mai Amatsu is one of the two title characters from the original Twin Angels anime, appearing alongside her older twin sister, Ai Amatsu. As the younger of the two sisters, Mai is characterized by her short hair, which distinguishes her from Ai who has a long ponytail. Both sisters are students at Tenjin Girls High School and serve as the latest in a long line of legendary female warriors and virgin priestesses. Their sacred duty is to guard a young half-demon named Onimaru, a distant relative of the sisters. Onimaru stands at a critical juncture in his demonic evolution where he has the potential to become either a great warrior of light or the next Demon King, a choice that would plunge the world into an era of debauchery and evil.

This familial curse is the burden that Mai and Ai inherit. They are supported in their mission by their grandmother, Genjuu Amatsu, as well as Onimaru's guardian, a figure named Dekonobu.
