Movie
Description
Shingo Hojo pilots the jet King Arrow, one of three primary craft aboard the teleporting fortress Good Thunder. King Arrow docks into the chest of the super robot GoShogun during battles against the Dokuga organization. A former soldier marked by personal tragedy, his wife was killed on their wedding day before he joined the Good Thunder crew.

Within the team, Shingo operates as the de facto leader during GoShogun missions due to his position in the main torso unit. He navigates professional relationships with fellow pilots Killy Gagley and Remy Shimada, their interactions often featuring banter and friction reflecting contrasting personalities. When the jets combine to form the secondary robot Try-3, operational control shifts to Remy despite Shingo still forming the torso.

His character evolves through several arcs. Early episodes establish his technical combat skill and initial reluctance toward heroism. A significant evolution occurs when circumstances force an alliance between the Good Thunder team and Dokuga's three primary officers against a common threat. This temporary ceasefire, driven by mutual survival needs against a third faction endangering unstable Beamler energy, ultimately facilitates the permanent defection of those antagonists to Shingo's side. He mentors Professor Sanada's son Kenta, training him as his copilot and notably allowing Kenta to operate GoShogun during critical missions.

Forty years after these events, an elderly Shingo reunites with former comrades and former Dokuga officers at the hospital bedside of the comatose Remy Shimada in the sequel *The Time Étranger*. Within Remy's subconscious dreamscape, a younger manifestation of Shingo participates in group efforts to confront manifestations of death. He coordinates combat maneuvers alongside Killy during a bar brawl and contributes to the team's strategic decisions while navigating the surreal, hostile environment. His presence reflects the enduring bonds forged during their past adventures.

Throughout both timelines, his military background consistently shapes his tactical approach and leadership style during missions. The unresolved outcome of Remy's condition leaves his later life trajectory undefined beyond his demonstrated loyalty during the vigil.
