Description
Panna Love is a recurring supporting contestant in the run-for-money competitions depicted in the anime. She takes part in multiple stages as one of the many runners who join the games rather than being one of the central protagonists. Her appearances put her on the same playing field as the main cast, and during the preliminary rounds of the Great Champion Tour she competed in the same block as the primary runners, though she did not advance past the preliminaries.
Her personality is defined by charm and calculation. She is presented as a self-serving schemer who enjoys the game by relying on others to carry her through, and who uses sweet, honeyed words to confuse and manipulate the people around her. When satisfying her own desires, she is willing to resort to betrayal and practically any other means. She also knows how to play the part of a helpless, frightened girl, and her affected, cutesy, seemingly timid voice is one of her most effective tools for drawing others to her side.
This manipulative side is most visible in her dealings with two fellow contestants, Doctor Giraff and Dyna Alexandros. At the start of one game, while the ground was rumbling, she used her feigned, delicate demeanor to attract their attention and quickly made both of them completely infatuated with her. The two men became so captivated that they began competing with each other over her, which allowed her to benefit from their rivalry.
Her notable abilities are social rather than physical. She is a skilled actress who can project innocence and vulnerability on demand, reads the emotions of other people well, and is adept at turning the goodwill and romantic interest of fellow contestants into practical protection and assistance. Her approach to the games is to position others as her defenders and benefactors while she works mainly for her own benefit.
Her involvement in missions combines self-interest with occasional attempts to contribute to the group effort. During the mission to repel Shibura's second form on the Shibuya stage, she tried to take part by heading toward Doctor Tanba's location, but she arrived too late; the mission was ultimately cleared by Tomura Sōya, so she had no hand in the success. Her appearances also include the mission to prevent two additional Hunters from being released, during which a special rule was introduced that awarded a bonus of 500,000 Moon Dollars for each piece of Eternal Metal placed into a bonus box.
Little is shown of her life outside the games; she functions mainly as a recurring rival figure among the contestants. Her motivation lies in personal gratification and in succeeding in the competitions on her own terms, which for her means winning through charm, deception, and the efforts of others rather than through physical performance.
