Description
Prince Oscar, also known by his full name Oscar Laes Increatus Ros Farsas, is the central male protagonist of the anime Unnamed Memory. He is the crown prince of the Kingdom of Farsas and the only child of King Kevin and his late wife Rosalia. When Oscar was a young boy, the powerful Witch of Silence cursed his bloodline so that any woman who bore his child would die in childbirth, making it all but impossible for him to produce an heir. For roughly fifteen years he searched for a way to break the spell without success, until he finally decided to seek out Tinasha, the Witch of the Azure Moon, who lived in isolation at the top of the Azure Tower.
According to legend, anyone who conquered the tower's many traps, puzzles, and guardian creatures could claim a wish, and Oscar managed to complete the challenge without serious difficulty. When he met Tinasha and realized that she was an immensely powerful witch who appeared young despite being hundreds of years old, he concluded that she would be strong enough to survive the curse. He therefore asked her to marry him as his reward. Tinasha refused at first, but the two eventually struck an agreement: she would leave her tower and live with Oscar in the royal castle of Farsas for one year while researching a way to undo the curse.
In personality, Oscar is a mixture of light-hearted charm and serious responsibility. He is playful and teasing around Tinasha, but he takes his duties as the future ruler of Farsas seriously and carries many of the responsibilities of kingship even before he formally inherits the throne. He cares about his subordinates, remains calm and courageous when people are in danger, and is remarkably bold and determined, rarely willing to back down once he has set his mind on something. His decision to propose to Tinasha illustrates this directness, as he treats even an impossible situation as a problem to be solved through confidence and decisive action.
Oscar's main motivation is to secure the succession of the Farsas royal line. The curse threatens not only his own hopes of marriage and family but also the stability of the kingdom, since it effectively denies him any chance of producing an heir. His sense of duty as a prince drives him to take great personal risks, including climbing a deadly tower and courting a legendary witch, and his concern for the people under his protection guides many of his choices throughout the story.
Oscar is the male lead of the series and the character whose actions set the main plot in motion. Although Tinasha is equally central to the story, Oscar's decisions shape the course of events, and he functions as both her partner and her protector as they investigate the curse together. His relationship with Tinasha begins as a practical arrangement but gradually deepens into genuine affection and mutual trust. His bond with his father, King Kevin, and the memory of his late mother, Rosalia, also influence his sense of purpose, and he maintains close ties with the knights and servants who support him.
Over the course of the story, Oscar develops from a determined prince seeking a pragmatic solution into a mature leader who confronts the magical threats surrounding his bloodline and his kingdom. The year he spends with Tinasha changes his understanding of the curse and of himself, and through the contract he forms with her he gains special powers that prepare him for his future role. He is destined to eventually ascend the throne as King of Farsas.
Oscar's most notable ability is his skill as the bearer of the legendary sword Akashia, a weapon capable of completely nullifying magic, which makes him uniquely dangerous to witches and mages. He combines this with exceptional combat skill, demonstrated by his conquest of the Azure Tower and its defenses. In addition to his fighting prowess, he possesses strong leadership qualities, sharp judgment, and the courage to put himself in harm's way for the sake of others, all of which define him as both a warrior and a ruler.
