Description
Ageha Hijiri is an eighteen-year-old woman and one of the main characters in her story. Her birthday is August 8th. Ageha stands out as the first adult human to become a Pretty Cure in the franchise’s history, a distinction that sets her apart from previous characters who were either younger or non-human entities. She returns to Sorashido City to enroll in a vocational school to pursue her lifelong dream of becoming a nursery school teacher. In her civilian life, she is known for her cheerful, fashionable, and outgoing personality. Ageha is a reliable and hardworking individual who exudes confidence and acts as a supportive older sister figure to those around her. She has a particular soft spot for young children and possesses an easygoing nature that allows her to befriend almost anyone quickly. Her characteristic catchphrase is "Let's get excited!"
Ageha’s primary motivation is her career goal of working with young children as an educator, a path that reflects her nurturing instincts and desire to protect the vulnerable. She views the role of a teacher as being akin to a hero, responsible for safeguarding the happiness and well-being of her students. This core belief directly fuels her actions and becomes the catalyst for her transformation. Before becoming a Cure, she serves as a supportive ally to the team, using her van to drive them places and offering guidance with her more mature perspective. Her role within the group is that of a mentor and guardian. Unlike the more offensively focused members, her fighting style is predominantly defensive, centered on creating protective barriers to shield her friends and others from harm. This protective urge, rooted in her career aspirations, defines her contribution to the team's battles
Ageha shares a deep, lifelong bond with Mashiro Nijigaoka, having been childhood neighbors. When Ageha was young and upset about her family moving away, it was Mashiro’s comfort that helped her accept the change, solidifying their connection. In the present, Ageha often acts as an encouraging older sister to Mashiro. She also forms a close bond with the younger members of the group, Sora Harewataru and Tsubasa Yuunagi, as well as the infant Princess Ellee. While she initially overwhelms the serious Tsubasa with her affectionate and teasing nature, calling him "shonen," they eventually develop a strong and caring partnership. Her relationship with Ellee is particularly tender, driven by her love for children, and she instinctively prioritizes the baby's safety in any crisis
Ageha’s character development culminates in a pivotal moment when the villain Battamonda attacks the nursery where she is doing her practical training. As he threatens her students and mocks her as a powerless meddler, Ageha firmly declares that being a teacher carries the same responsibility as being a hero: to protect those she loves. This profound declaration of her personal values awakens her powers, allowing her to transform into Cure Butterfly for the first time. After this, she embraces her dual role and moves in with the other Cures to better fulfill her duties. Later in the series, she also experiences growth in learning to accept help herself when Tsubasa notices she is hiding the stress of balancing school, work, and heroics, reminding her that she does not have to do everything alone
As Cure Butterfly, Ageha’s abilities are a direct extension of her protective nature. Her primary power involves summoning large, butterfly-shaped shields to block enemy attacks and create a safe space for her allies. She can also perform an offensive move called Butterfly Press to purify monsters. Using a tool called the Colorful Action Mix Palette, Cure Butterfly can support her teammates by boosting their individual skills and performing combination attacks. Her fighting style is distinct for being almost entirely supportive and defensive, focusing on ensuring the safety and effectiveness of the other Cures rather than taking the lead in offense
