Description
Pinga is an original character created for the anime film Detective Conan: The Black Iron Submarine, the twenty-sixth theatrical film in the series. He is a member of the Black Organization, the criminal syndicate that serves as the story's recurring antagonist group, and he functions as the close confidant of Rum, the organization's second-in-command. After the death of Curaçao, a previous trusted aide, Pinga rose to become Rum's new right hand. He is a film-exclusive character and does not appear in the original manga continuity.
Pinga is 25 years old. His codename comes from the Brazilian sugarcane spirit cachaça, which is also known as pinga in some regions; like rum, it is distilled from sugarcane, a detail that mirrors his subordinate position under Rum. He is male, though his appearance is deliberately androgynous. The film's central development comes when Pinga uses the All-Age Recognition system at Pacific Buoy, a program that reconstructs how a person's face changes with age, and discovers the true identities of two key figures: the detective known as Conan Edogawa is actually Shinichi Kudo, and the girl Ai Haibara is actually Shiho Miyano, the organization's traitorous scientist Sherry. Because Gin had long failed to eliminate Shinichi Kudo, Pinga believes that delivering this information to Rum would prove Gin's failure and disgrace him within the organization. This ambition drives his final actions, as he attempts to capture Conan and bring him to Rum.

When the engineer Leonhardt discovers that Grace was the only person accessing the altered camera logs, Pinga drugs him and stages his death as a poisoning suicide, planting a false confession to cover his tracks. He also participates directly in the kidnapping of Ai Haibara, working alongside Vodka and Chianti, and he and Vodka drive a vehicle carrying Haibara into the sea to transfer her to the organization's submarine. Later, Conan exposes Grace as Pinga through a deduction, and Pinga, having already learned Conan's true identity, attempts to abduct him as well. He is thwarted by the arrival of police detectives and flees, intending to board the organization's submarine to report his findings. Unbeknownst to him, Gin has decided to abandon and destroy the submarine, and Pinga is killed in the resulting explosion. His death was confirmed by the series' creator. A script for an alternate ending included with the film's deluxe edition depicts Pinga being rescued and arrested instead, and then being assassinated by the sniper Chianti while in police custody.
