Description
Berry Blossom, whose real name is Kaju Noichigo, is a central figure in the story as the magical girl tasked with protecting her city. She is a teenager with a distinctive appearance that includes pink hair cascading to her waist, green eyes, and an outfit featuring a strawberry-shaped hat, braids, a dress, and boots. In her civilian identity, she wears glasses, which she does not need while transformed. Her birthday is January 5th, and she stands 158 centimeters tall.

Kaju is deeply committed to her role as a champion of justice, and her primary motivation stems from a genuine, albeit somewhat self-interested, desire to be an ideal "apostle of justice". She willingly puts herself in harm's way to achieve this ideal, as demonstrated by her use of her special move, Thunderbolt Bloom, even at risk of being hit by an opponent's attack. However, her single-minded dedication can sometimes lead her to be mistaken in her judgments. Despite her righteous heart, she also has a more personal and selfish wish to become popular, revealing a layer of vanity beneath her heroic exterior. Her personal tastes include a fondness for honey and pancakes.

Within the narrative, Berry Blossom is the celebrated idol of the protagonist, a young otaku girl named Chizuko Date, who is obsessed with her exploits. She faces off against the evil organization Fossa Magna, led by the inept Chrome, who is meant to be her arch-enemy. Her constant companion and supporter is Mashirou, a magical mascot who assists her in her duties. A quirk of her world is the existence of unspoken rules; she uses her magic against Fossa Magna but is expected to handle ordinary criminals with physical force, often apprehending them and handing them over to the police, which has led to some tension with law enforcement.

As a character, Kaju experiences notable development, particularly when her purpose is threatened. When Fossa Magna withdraws and ceases its attacks, she loses her reason for fighting as a magical girl, leading to a period of despair. This event shatters her dream, but she is eventually able to revive herself, and the experience seems to make her more proficient in her abilities than before. An episode of the anime is dedicated to exploring the origins of how Kaju Noichigo first became Berry Blossom.

Her notable abilities are centered around magic, which she channels through her wand to perform attacks against magical threats like Fossa Magna. Her demonstrated special attack is named Thunderbolt Bloom. Even within her own series, she is considered a powerful magical girl, with Chrome, her villainous counterpart, expressing fear that she has the potential to grow strong enough to annihilate his entire organization if she continues on her path of improvement. Her fame is such that she is a genuine celebrity, with merchandise sold in convenience stores and television specials dedicated to her.
