Description
Nonna di Kimi, also referred to as Shino Sakunaga, is the grandmother of the main character Kimi Sakunaga in the film The Colors Within. She is an alumna of the same school Kimi attends and takes great pride in her granddaughter, which creates a strong but quietly pressured familial bond. Nonna di Kimi lives with Kimi and is the primary guardian in her life, as Kimi’s older brother has moved away for work. Her pride and expectations are a central source of Kimi’s internal struggle: Kimi has secretly quit school but cannot bring herself to tell her grandmother, fearing disappointment. While Nonna di Kimi does not possess any special abilities or actively participate in the band formation, her role in the narrative is that of a loving yet traditional family figure whose approval matters deeply to Kimi. Over the course of the story, her relationship with Kimi undergoes subtle development as Kimi works toward honest communication about her own dreams and decisions. Nonna di Kimi’s presence anchors Kimi’s home life and highlights the generational and personal tensions the protagonist must navigate.
