Description
Lou, also known as Lukish, is the youngest member of the three-woman assassin group called the Midnight Panther, which operates under the public front of a popular musical band named the Pussy Cats. She comes from a tragic background: as a child, she was separated from her royal family—a king and queen—when her brother Bad killed them. During her escape, she was injured and later rescued by an old hag, a witch who also serves as the manager of both the band and the assassination ring. The medical treatments the hag used to save Lukish’s life had lasting physical consequences. Her once-pale skin turned a dark tan color, and her body underwent alchemical alterations that granted her superhuman strength, immunity to poisons, and a venomous quality of her own. This toxicity came primarily from an ingredient derived from the liver of a Basilisk dragon, making her skin dangerous to others; anyone who touches her for an extended period risks dying a slow and horrible death.
Because of her youth, Lukish is not permitted to take part in direct assassination missions. Instead, she is assigned the role of hunting dragons, whose body parts the hag uses as ingredients for various alchemical concoctions. This task makes her a vital support member of the team, even though she is sidelined from the group’s main killings. Her motivations are shaped by both loyalty to the hag, who saved her life and raised her, and a personal grudge against her brother Bad. When the Midnight Panthers receive a contract to assassinate a despotic king—who is indeed her brother—the mission becomes deeply personal for Lukish. Among the three assassins, she is the one whose private history directly connects to the target, giving her a strong emotional stake in the group’s most important job.
Lukish’s key relationships include her teammates Sonya and Kei, with whom she performs as a singer and fights as an assassin, though her exclusion from combat missions may create a sense of distance. Her bond with the hag is a mix of gratitude and dependence, as the witch is both her caretaker and the source of her unusual abilities. She also shares a conflicted relationship with her brother Bad, whose murder of their parents drove her from her home and set her on the path to becoming a Midnight Panther. Lukish’s notable abilities include her enhanced physical strength, complete immunity to toxins, and the lethal poisonous nature of her skin, which she must manage carefully in everyday interactions. Her expertise in hunting dragons adds a practical, combative skill set that supports the group’s operations even when she is not on assassination duty.
