Lorde das Trevas is the overarching antagonist of the anime Flint: The Time Detective, known in the English version as the Dark Lord and in the original Japanese as the Masked Man. He is a cold, patient, and calculating figure who commands the villainous trio Petra Fina, Dino, and Mite. His primary motivation is to conquer the Land of Time, the home realm of the Time-Shifters, and he originally scattered these creatures across time and space as part of his plan. His role in the story is that of the ultimate threat; while his servants carry out his bidding in each era, Lorde das Trevas orchestrates the larger scheme to use the powers of the Time-Shifters to rewrite history and invade their realm. He possesses his own elite group of creatures known as the Great Four, Time-Shifters he created from flowers, which can transform into powerful corrupted forms. His key relationships are hierarchical: he oversees Petra Fina and her lackeys, who answer to him, and he directly opposes Flint Hammerhead and the Time Police. Over the course of the series, he remains a mysterious and distant presence until the final episodes, where he directly confronts the heroes. Notable abilities include his command over dark magic, the capacity to create and control his own Time-Shifters, and the ability to manipulate time and history through the scattered creatures. His development culminates in a final battle where his own Great Four ultimately choose to revert to their original forms, denying him their power and leading to his defeat.
