Description
Professeur Go, known in the original Japanese version as Go Gakujin, is a supporting character in the anime Giant Robo the Animation: The Day the Earth Stood Still. He is a scientist affiliated with the International Police Organization, where he serves as the primary expert on Shizuma technology, the advanced energy system that has replaced fossil fuels and nuclear power in the world of the series. In that role he acts as a scientific advisor and strategist for the organization's Experts of Justice, providing technical insight during their operations.

His past is marked by a deep tragedy. Years before the main events, he worked as an assistant alongside Genya to the five scientists at the Bashtarlle research facility. When one of their experiments went wrong, the disaster killed many people and left Go Gakujin as one of the few survivors. He came away from the incident believing that both his fellow assistant Genya and Dr. Franken von Fogler had died in the accident. The memory of that day haunts him throughout the story, and he spends much of the series trying to understand what truly happened a decade earlier and to come to terms with it. This unresolved trauma shapes his cautious, analytical demeanor and gives him a quiet, serious presence among his colleagues.

His central motivation is the search for the truth about the Bashtarlle tragedy. Even as he carries out his duties for the International Police Organization, he is driven by the need to reconcile his memories with the facts that gradually come to light. His personal development unfolds as new revelations force him to question what he has believed for ten years, turning his journey toward closure into a significant part of his character arc.

In terms of relationships, his connection to the past defines him. The presumed deaths of Genya and Dr. Franken von Fogler, as well as the loss of the five scientists he served, weigh heavily on him and influence how he interacts with the present. Within the Experts of Justice, he works alongside the other agents of the International Police Organization, supporting them with his specialized knowledge of Shizuma technology.

Despite being primarily a scientific figure, he is also capable in a fight. He is very skilled with battle fans, a talent that proves useful when the organization's missions turn into direct combat. His combination of technical expertise, lingering grief over the past, and unexpected fighting ability makes him a dependable but quietly burdened member of the team.
