Description
Le Ehasseur de Pokémon appears in Pokémon 4Ever as a Pokémon hunter who operates in the Johto region forty years before the main events of the film. He is first seen pursuing the Mythical Pokémon Celebi in a forest, intent on capturing it for its rarity and time‑travel abilities. His chase is interrupted by a young Trainer named Sammy, who defends Celebi and allows the Pokémon to escape by using its powers to leap forward in time, bringing Sammy along. This hunter is a seasoned poacher, focused exclusively on acquiring valuable Pokémon for profit or collection, and shows little concern for the well‑being of the creatures he targets. He is determined and persistent, but he lacks the grandiose cruelty of the film’s primary antagonist.
Many years later, the hunter reappears as an elderly man, still living in the same forest region. He is confronted by the Iron‑Masked Marauder, a high‑ranking Team Rocket operative who seeks information about Celebi. The Marauder uses a Dark Ball to capture the hunter’s own Tyranitar, forcing it to destroy the hunter’s possessions. This scene underscores the hunter’s diminished status and his role as a minor obstacle in the larger conflict. He does not reform or develop further; after this encounter he disappears from the story. His initial pursuit of Celebi serves as the catalyst for the time‑travel event that brings Sammy into the present and sets the plot in motion. Beyond his ability to track and attempt to capture Pokémon, he displays no special powers or resources. His key relationship is with Sammy, whom he briefly opposes, and later with the Iron‑Masked Marauder, who ultimately displaces him as a threat. Le Ehasseur de Pokémon remains a flat character with no meaningful growth, functioning primarily as an inciting figure whose actions cause Celebi and Sammy to travel forward in time.
