Description
Caron Izumi is the younger sister of the protagonist, Ken Izumi, in the 1974 anime. She is a young girl, established to be seven years old and in the second grade, though she is rarely seen attending school. Caron has long blonde hair that she typically wears in a ponytail with a hot pink bow. Her usual outfit consists of a red sleeved dress, white boots, a cyan necklace, and a distinctive white, cone-shaped collar.

In terms of personality, Caron often acts in a cutesy manner and enjoys singing and dancing. Despite her young age, she is shown to be concerned about her body image. Her role in the story is primarily defined by her relationship to her brother. Caron does not possess any supernatural powers of her own, which makes her vulnerable and a frequent target for the alien Jurals, who often kidnap her or use her as a hostage to get to Ken.

A key aspect of her character development involves several instances where she is possessed or manipulated by the Jurals. The most notable example occurs in episode 45, when a Jural disguised as her piano teacher uses a melody to control her. Under this influence, she wields a large kitchen knife and attempts to kill Ken in his sleep, only being stopped when her mother slaps her, causing her to regain consciousness. In another instance, a mysterious evil doll given to her as a gift injects her with a serum at night, leading her to lead her mother into a trap in the woods. Her relationship with her brother Ken is complex. While they are siblings who generally get along, Ken sometimes teases her, such as joking about her weight.

The production inconsistencies of the series are also reflected in her character. Her appearance and design can vary noticeably from episode to episode. She also demonstrates a curious trait common to many characters in the show, appearing to speak without moving her mouth, which has been likened to ventriloquism. Despite the dangerous situations she finds herself in, Caron possesses a resilient mental fortitude for a child and often seems to forget these traumatic incidents shortly after Ken has resolved them and come to her rescue.
