Description
In the Cyborg 009 narrative, Cyborg 0012 is a minor antagonist created by the criminal organization known as Black Ghost. The woman who would become Cyborg 0012 originally lived during the Taisho era in Japan and married a wealthy man. When her husband left to fight in World War I, she remained at home, faithfully waiting for his return. After he was killed in the war, she continued to wait, unable to accept his death, and eventually died herself sometime after World War II, still holding onto her longing. Black Ghost later recovered her body or the site of her abandoned mansion, converting the entire house into a cyborg death trap with her brain as its central control system.

As a cyborg, 0012 embodies a tragic figure whose intense love and loneliness were exploited for evil purposes. Her personality initially appears accommodating and mysterious, presenting the image of a beautiful and gracious hostess. However, this facade hides a mind that has been driven mad by isolation and sorrow. She reveals a deeply sadistic nature, taking great pleasure in attempting to kill intruders. She gloats and laughs as she describes how she will dispose of her victims, relishing their pain and screaming as she manipulates the deadly traps within her walls. Despite this cruelty, her actions are rooted in a profound sense of grief and an eternal, desperate wait for her lost love. When finally defeated and facing destruction, her personality shifts from gloating antagonism to one of great vulnerability and fear, pleading for her life.

Her primary motivation is not a personal vendetta or a desire for power but a perpetuation of her original obsession. Black Ghost weaponized her undying passion and loyalty to her husband, turning her home, the place of her waiting, into a mechanism for murder. She is driven by a distorted sense of purpose, continuing to exist within the mansion that serves as both her body and her prison. Her role in the story is that of a minor antagonist, a guardian of one of Black Ghost's secrets. She is encountered by the cyborg heroes 009, 004, and 007 while they are investigating the disappearance of a professor. She acts as a lethal obstacle, attempting to eliminate them with the many traps incorporated into her structure.

In terms of key relationships, Cyborg 0012 is defined entirely by her connection to her deceased husband, though he never appears directly. Her existence is a grim monument to their relationship. She has no allies among the living, but she employs a number of servants with physical disabilities who act as her limbs, helping her maintain the mansion. Her primary interaction with the main cast is adversarial, specifically targeting 009, 004, and 007. Notably, the cyborg designated 007, Great Britain, is immediately charmed by her holographic appearance and expresses romantic feelings for her, a sentiment that persists even after he discovers her true nature. This creates a brief but poignant dynamic where one hero sees the suffering woman within the monster.

The character undergoes a tragic form of development through her defeat. Throughout her encounter with the cyborgs, she is a confident and malicious hunter. However, when the machine housing her brain is shattered by 009's gunfire, her demeanor collapses. In her final moments, she shows great fear of death and pleads to be saved, revealing the desperate, broken woman beneath the machinery. As her mansion-body explodes and burns, the spirit of Cyborg 0012 is finally seen reuniting with the spirit of her husband, achieving the peace and reunion she had sought for so long. This ending provides a somber resolution to her tragic story, as she is freed from her cyborg prison in death.

Cyborg 0012 possesses a unique set of abilities that distinguish her from other cyborgs in the 00 series. Most notably, she does not use an Accelerator, as her entire body is the mansion itself. Her consciousness is contained within a machine that houses her cryogenically preserved body or a disembodied brain in a jar. She can project a solid hologram of her human appearance to interact with visitors, though this projection does not cast a reflection in mirrors. Using a chessboard as a control interface, she manipulates the entire mansion to create elaborate deathtraps. These traps include transforming the ground into quicksand, using vines from trees to strangle intruders, opening spike pits, rearranging hallways, and sealing sections to fill them with concentrated acid, which she refers to as her stomach acid. She also possesses an electrical stimulator that can cause intense pain to the nervous systems of other cyborgs. Furthermore, she has telepathic abilities that allow her to communicate with those inside her, and she can create booby traps such as explosive chandeliers or decoy robots. In her death throes, she can cause the entire mansion to collapse and sink into the ground, leaving no trace behind.
