Description
Ikima is a central antagonist in the anime Kotetsu Jeeg, serving as one of the most loyal and formidable generals under the command of Queen Himika of the Yamatai Empire. He is typically depicted as a serious and ruthless commander, distinguishing himself from his fellow generals, Amaso and Mimashi, with a more solemn and unwavering dedication to his queen's cause. His ultimate loyalty defines his entire existence; he is portrayed as an individual willing to commit any atrocity, cause widespread destruction, and even sacrifice his own life if it serves the will of Queen Himika.

His background is intertwined with the ancient history of the Yamatai Empire. Ikima fought alongside Queen Himika during a galactic war that eventually brought them to Earth. When the conflict ended and others chose to live peacefully, Ikima remained committed to Himika's ambition to conquer. This loyalty led to a protracted battle against the original hero, Hiroshi Shiba, and his allies, a conflict that concluded with Ikima and his forces being sealed away, their forms petrified, for five decades. His resurrection marks the beginning of a renewed assault on the modern world, where he continues his undying service.

Personality-wise, Ikima is defined by his intense, almost fanatical loyalty and a pragmatic ruthlessness. He is not prone to the same weaknesses as some of his comrades; he follows orders without hesitation and is a firm believer in achieving victory by any means necessary. A stark illustration of his character is when he kills the dying warrior Kyo, formerly known as Takeru, by taking advantage of his heart attack rather than engaging in a fair fight. This willingness to exploit any opening, coupled with a complete lack of a sense of honor regarding the rules of combat, establishes him as a truly dangerous and unscrupulous adversary. He is a cheater and a pragmatist, for whom the mission and the safety of his queen override any personal code of ethics.

Within the story, Ikima holds the position of Queen Himika's right hand and is her most trusted field commander. While Amaso and Mimashi are also high-ranking generals, Ikima is consistently shown to be more serious and effective in his duties. He is frequently tasked with leading attacks against the hero, Kenji, and the Build Base, deploying the monstrous Haniwa Phantoms to cause havoc while overseeing the strategic elements of the Yamatai Empire's plans. His role is not merely that of a brute; he is also a competent strategist, organizing assaults to kidnap key individuals, such as Tsubaki, and to retrieve powerful artifacts like the Bronze Bells. His key relationships are solidly hierarchical: absolute devotion to Queen Himika and a professional, if somewhat superior, working dynamic with his fellow generals, Amaso and Mimashi. He serves and fights alongside them but stands out as the most singularly focused of the trio.

His development across the narrative is directly tied to his loyalty. Unlike some of his peers who might waver or face internal conflict, Ikima remains steadfast until the very end. He witnesses the destruction of his fellow generals and the Haniwa Phantoms, yet does not retreat from his purpose. In the final conflict, after his forces are decimated, he resorts to using his own magical powers to fight the combined might of two Jeegs, Hiroshi and Kenji, pushing his body beyond its limits until it can no longer withstand the strain and explodes. Even after this physical death, his soul is summoned by Queen Himika to form a final, massive entity called the Susanoh. His existence only ends for good when this ultimate construct is destroyed by the Kotetsushin Jeeg, marking the final sacrifice of a servant who gave his entire being, in life and death, to his queen.

In terms of abilities, Ikima is not a physical powerhouse on the scale of a giant robot, but he possesses formidable magical and combat skills. He is capable of conjuring barriers, such as a protective field that can be destroyed in a power struggle, and using various offensive magic spells. He also demonstrates superhuman resilience and strength, allowing him to fight characters like the aging hero Hiroshi in hand-to-hand combat. His primary tactical role, however, is as a commander; he is responsible for unleashing the Haniwa Phantoms, which are giant monsters created from rock by Queen Himika, and directing the Yomi Soldiers into battle. His greatest asset is his unbreakable will and his willingness to self-destruct, channeling his own life force into a final, desperate attack against his enemies.
