Description
Konaki Jiji is a yokai based on a traditional Japanese ghost from Tokushima Prefecture, traditionally depicted as a crying infant that transforms into a heavy old man. In the world of Gegege no Kitarō, he is a longtime ally and friend of Kitarō and a core member of the yokai community. His appearance is that of a small, wizened old man.
He is portrayed as a comic and somewhat absent-minded elderly yokai. Despite this, he is fiercely loyal and dependable in a crisis. His lighthearted nature provides occasional moments of levity among the group. His primary motivation is the protection of the fragile peace between the human and yokai worlds.
