Description
Madoka Kaguya, Cure Selene, is a third-year middle school student from an esteemed lineage. Her father’s government career and mother’s renown as a pianist forge an environment of high expectations, driving Madoka to master archery, piano, flower arranging, tea ceremonies, and academics—securing national championships across disciplines. As Mihoshi Town Middle School’s composed student council president, she earns the moniker "The Moon of Mihoshi Town" for her poised elegance, though her perfectionism and parental pressures fuel inner stress and hesitancy.

In civilian life, she sports long layered purple hair tied with dark magenta ribbons, bright blue eyes, and seasonal attire: pearl-blue blouses with indigo accents in warmer months, light gray turtlenecks paired with boots in winter. Transforming into Cure Selene shifts her hair to lilac with gold bands, crowned by a frilly white headband and crescent accessories. Her purple-and-white battle dress gleams with celestial patterns, including stars and a southern cross.

Her metamorphosis employs a Star Color Pendant and Pen, culminating in a crescent moon-themed sequence that summons her signature bow. Combat skills include the Selene Arrow, splitting into radiant projectiles, and zodiac-infused variants like Capricorn Selene Arrow, unleashing crescent-shaped explosions, and Sagittarius Selene Arrow, armed with golden-tipped arrows.

Madoka’s journey revolves around confronting familial demands. Early clashes with her rigid father, Fuyuki Kaguya, spark guilt over concealing her Pretty Cure identity. Bonds with teammates Elena and Lala nurture her resolve to voice her aspirations, culminating in defying her father to forge her own destiny—choosing a career as a space investigator, echoing his past profession.

Within her team, she respects Elena’s steadfast responsibility and connects with Lala’s quest for familial acceptance. A pivotal archery tournament clash against rival Nasu Yumika underscores her growth in sportsmanship and self-assurance.

The film *Hoshi no Uta ni Omoi wo Komete* highlights Madoka aiding the protection of the creature UMA, where her strategic archery and crisis leadership bolster the team against alien hunters.

Her name reflects her essence: *Kaguya* merges "fragrance," "eternity," and "arrow," honoring her archery skill, while *Madoka* ("round") mirrors her lunar motif. The alias Cure Selene nods to the Greek moon goddess, aligning her celestial theme.
