Mitsuo Kitahara is a yakuza figure in the world of the anime Yankee Reppu-tai. He is the head of the Kitahara group, a subsidiary of the powerful Hanaoka-gumi crime syndicate, and outwardly operates as the president of Kitahara Kogyo. He has spent over two decades in the underworld, having received a formal sake cup from Hanaoka Torazo himself at the age of fifteen. His primary role in the story is as the personal driver and bodyguard for Hanaoka Ryuuji, the son of the Hanaoka-gumi boss, and he is frequently seen driving a distinctive red SEL limousine. Beyond his duties to the Hanaoka family, Kitahara becomes a good understanding person for the protagonist, Monda Monnoujo, recognizing his strength and spirit. He is a seasoned and loyal figure who commands a group of over one hundred men. His relationship with a young subordinate named Kadokawa Toshiaki leads to a conflict when Kadokawa attempts to avenge an injury Kitahara sustains, an act that ultimately draws Monnoujo into the fray. Kitahara is not a frontline brawler but rather a capable and respected yakuza leader who provides support, protection, and practical assistance to the central characters.
