Description
Galory Cherwicka is one of the three central protagonists in this story. He is a young boy who serves as a magical warrior officer, a position that reflects his combat training and his active role in the military conflict that shapes the world. His most defining characteristic is his heritage; Galory is a hybrid of human and Crest person, a mixed heritage that is central to his identity. Although he bears a Crest on his body, a mark that typically signifies a pure-blooded member of the Crest race and grants psychic or elemental abilities, he is not a full member of that species. In reality, he is a naturalized Earth human, a fact that creates a complex and often uncomfortable position for him within the rigid racial divisions of his society.

The story takes place in the late 24th century, after a devastating three-hundred-year war between Earth and the Crest people, also known as the Halmacfutz. Although peace has been established, deep-seated resentment and prejudice linger between the two races. Galory’s personal background is directly shaped by this history. He is introduced as a member of the crew aboard the Earth ship Tetraskelion. When the ship is ambushed by automated attack drones from a massive, automated Crest warship, nearly everyone aboard is killed. Galory survives the initial attack alongside Nikolai, a war-weary cyborg soldier, and Jennings, the ship's tactical officer. He makes the crucial decision to awaken Althea, a Crest girl who had been rescued and placed in some form of suspended animation, to bolster their meager forces.

Galory’s personality is presented as that of a straightforward and determined young man, defined by his circumstances. As a hybrid, he is not entirely happy with his situation as a half-something, caught between two worlds that have long been enemies. This internal conflict is a subtle but persistent part of his character. He is proactive and courageous, choosing to lead a dangerous mission to infiltrate the enemy vessel rather than wait for certain death. The goal is to locate any survivors from an advanced scouting party and to destroy the Type 38 automaton, a malevolent mechanical intelligence, that controls the massive Crest warship.

His primary motivation is survival, but his actions are also driven by a sense of duty and a desire to confront the immediate threat. The mission becomes a test of trust between former enemies, forcing him, Nikolai, and Althea to work together despite their races’ bitter history. In the story, Galory serves as the point-of-view character and the driving force of the narrative. The plot follows his decisions and his direct confrontation with the central antagonist.

Key relationships define the other major characters. His dynamic with Althea is central. They begin as strangers from opposing sides of a war, forced together by a deadly crisis. As they navigate the treacherous corridors of the enemy ship, their connection grows, moving from awkward necessity to a closer bond that is essential for their survival. His relationship with Nikolai is more strained. Nikolai is a human who was horrifically injured in the war against the Crests, which is why he is now a cyborg, and he harbors a deep and open disdain for Crest people. This creates significant tension, as Nikolai is initially standoffish and harsh toward Galory because of his Crest heritage. Over the course of the mission, Nikolai undergoes a shift from this cold hostility to a genuine concern for his young comrade.

For a single-episode story, Galory demonstrates a clear, if simple, arc. He begins as a young man burdened by his mixed heritage and the pressures of a post-war world. By the story's end, through direct action and cooperation with Althea, he is able to overcome the immediate threat. This victory is achieved specifically because of his and Althea's unique connection, which proves to be the key to destroying the automaton and escaping.

Regarding notable abilities, Galory is a trained magical warrior officer, indicating proficiency in combat. As a Crest-bearer, even as a naturalized human, he possesses unique abilities linked to the Crest. This power is significant enough that he chooses to awaken Althea, another Crest user, specifically to enhance their combat potential against the automaton. His mixed heritage is not just a social burden but also a source of his unique strength, allowing him to bridge the gap between human technology and Crest powers in the fight against their common mechanical enemy.
