Description
Goyan is a central antagonist in the series, initially appearing as a loyal and seemingly unassuming aide to the ruler of Dark Fall, Akudaikan. His outward appearance is that of a small, green-skinned, frog-like or reptilian figure, often dressed in traditional dark Japanese or Chinese-style robes with long white sleeves, socks with sandals, and possessing narrow red eyes. This diminutive form and his habit of rubbing his hands together give him the look of a crafty, middle-management servant. However, this facade hides his true nature, and his name is derived from the Okinawan word for bitter melon, a motif reflected in his head's shape.

Regarding his background, Goyan is far older than he appears. He is a primordial being who has existed since before the birth of the universe. In that silent, empty void, he found peace, and he considers the emergence of stars, life, and all creation to be an abhorrent, unsettling noise. To achieve his goal of returning existence to this state of perfect, silent darkness, he created both the organization known as Dark Fall and its imposing figurehead leader, Akudaikan, to act as a decoy while he manipulated events from the shadows.

Goyan's personality is layered with deception. On the surface, he is soft-spoken and overly deferential to Akudaikan, acting as a humble and loyal subordinate who speaks politely to everyone, including his enemies. He enjoys openly taunting and provoking his fellow servants, particularly Karehan, taking delight in their anger and failures. Despite this mocking exterior, he sometimes offers advice to his comrades or accommodates their quirks, such as allowing Moerumba to talk about dancing or training with Kintoleski, which makes his eventual betrayal more impactful. Underneath this jovial mask lies a truly sadistic and psychopathic monster. He shows no genuine care for his underlings, and his cruelty is starkly revealed when he captures and tortures the fairies Flappy and Choppy for information and when he later extinguishes the flame of Akudaikan's life, destroying his own creation without remorse.

His role in the story is that of the true main antagonist and mastermind. For most of the series, he serves as Akudaikan's right-hand man, acting as an advisor and observer. He is responsible for sending various servants to fight the Precure team, including Moerumba, Dorodoron, and the Kiryu sisters. His hidden power and importance become apparent when he attacks Queen Filia, steals the Fairy Carafe, and uses it to resurrect the defeated servants of Dark Fall to battle the heroines once more. It is only in the final battle, after the Precure have seemingly defeated Akudaikan, that Goyan reveals his true form and his plan to destroy the world.

Goyan has several key relationships that define his interactions within Dark Fall. He shares a mutual antagonism with Karehan, whom he constantly mocks, often provoking Karehan to the point of violence. His relationship with Ms. Shitataare is one of rivalry; she ambitiously seeks to surpass him and irritatingly refers to him by the nickname Go-chan, much to his displeasure. In contrast, he has a more tolerant if bemused relationship with the eccentric Moerumba. With Michiru and Kaoru, the Kiryu sisters, he is initially dismissive but later becomes the one who casts them into a comatose sleep after their betrayal.

Goyan undergoes a significant development from a seemingly comical background figure to the ultimate threat. While he remains hidden, it is revealed that he was secretly proactive, and his defeat at the hands of the newly empowered Cure Bright and Cure Windy was only a temporary setback. His true development is the shedding of his false persona to become a towering, muscular, green-skinned humanoid with a single horn, revealing his immense power and omnicidal motive.

In terms of notable abilities, Goyan is exceptionally powerful, far surpassing the other servants of Dark Fall. He demonstrates superhuman speed and strength, capable of easily catching attacks and subduing others without any visible effort. In his true form, he possesses enough power to single-handedly drain the world's oceans, which is revealed to be the Fountain of Sun, turning the Earth into a desolate wasteland. In this state, he battles all four Precure simultaneously before being ultimately destroyed by their combined Spiral Heart Splash Star attack.
