OVA
Description
Nanami Namita is a young woman who works at a cabaret club or bar catering to adult clientele, described as a "cute college" bar. She is uncomfortable with the job, particularly disliking being touched by customers, but she endures it because she needs the money. She has a hobby of collecting dolls, and she finds comfort in them. Her boyfriend, Sabu, gives her a doll as a gift, and she becomes very attached to it, carrying it with her even to work. However, her personality is initially shy and somewhat insecure; the doll provides her with a sense of security that her coworkers find childish.
Her motivations are largely driven by her personal frustrations and the betrayal she experiences. After receiving the doll, she arrives home early and discovers Sabu in bed with another woman. Angry and hurt, she throws the doll out the window and wishes the couple were dead. This wish inadvertently activates a demon that has been inhabiting the doll, and the demon begins to kill people Nanami dislikes. The doll appears to act on its own, murdering Sabu and his lover, then going on a killing spree at the club, targeting customers and coworkers whom Nanami resents. However, it is eventually revealed that the demon has possessed Nanami herself, using her as a host to carry out the murders through the doll.
In the story, Nanami serves as the central human victim and unwitting antagonist of the second episode of the OVA series. Her role is to illustrate how a demon can exploit human emotional vulnerability and resentment. She has no direct relationship with the main demon-hunting protagonists, Enma, Yukihime, and Kapaeru, until they investigate the murder spree. Enma and Kapaeru initially suspect the doll is the source of the demonic activity, but after being attacked by possessed waitresses, they realize the demon is inside Nanami. Enma confronts her and exorcises the demon, destroying it and freeing her from its control.
Nanami undergoes no significant character development beyond the episode; after the demon is removed, the story focuses on the aftermath and the police discovering the bodies. She does not reappear in later episodes, nor does she gain any supernatural abilities of her own. Her notable ability is limited to being a conduit for the demon, which manifests as a mass of hair-like tentacles that can attack and possess others. The demon can also animate the doll independently. Ultimately, Nanami is a tragic figure whose personal despair and desire for revenge are exploited by a malevolent entity, leading to a series of violent deaths before she is saved by outside intervention.
