Description
Daikichi Terayama is the deceased great-grandfather of the protagonist, Suekichi Terayama. He is a central figure in the story even after his death, as the conditions of his will form the primary conflict that drives the narrative forward. Daikichi left behind a substantial inheritance, reportedly an off-the-books stamp collection valued at over 400 million yen, but with specific stipulations for his heir. Suekichi can only claim this fortune if he successfully finishes university, gets married, and finds a job.
Despite being deceased, Daikichi Terayama is a very active presence throughout the series, as he does not rest quietly. Rather, he appears as a ghost who finds great amusement in haunting his great-grandson, often materializing at the most inopportune or embarrassing moments to taunt him rather than to scare him. He has a mischievous and playful personality, taking pleasure in meddling with the living. His antics include peeping on characters and even possessing people, using his spectral abilities to cause further chaos and complications in Suekichi’s already difficult life.
