Description
Miu Furinji is the granddaughter of Hayato Furinji, the legendary master of the Ryozanpaku dojo, and the only daughter of Saiga Furinji and Shizuha Furinji, which connects her to both the Furinji and Kuremisago clans, infamous lineages known for their physical superiority. Born on January 14th, her mother perished in battle while protecting her as an infant, leaving her to be raised and trained by her grandfather from a very young age. Her father, Saiga, later left to become a leader within the antagonistic organization Yami, deepening the complexity of her family history. Growing up, Miu traveled the world with her grandfather, accompanying him on his peacekeeping missions, a lifestyle that fostered her martial arts talent but left her isolated from normal social circles, preventing her from making friends.

Miu has a striking appearance characterized by fair skin, long blonde hair, bright blue eyes, and a distinctive beauty mark beneath her left eye. At home or during training, she typically wears a form-fitting purple spandex suit. She also possesses two red hair clips, which are hidden tools given to her by her mother; one conceals a small blade and the other a lockpick. Before transferring to Koryo High School, she attended another school where she faced intense jealousy from other girls over her high grades, athletic ability, and looks. To avoid this, she initially tried to downplay her appearance by braiding her hair and wearing non-corrective glasses.

Personality-wise, Miu is generally a kind, cheerful, and polite individual who cares deeply for others. Despite her immense strength, she possesses a low self-esteem concerning social interactions due to her isolated upbringing, and before meeting the protagonist Kenichi Shirahama, she had no friends to speak of. She has a childlike wonder for new experiences she missed out on, such as visiting an aquarium or riding a merry-go-round. She is also a well-known cat lover who becomes openly hostile toward anyone who harms a kitten. In contrast to her gentle nature, Miu has a fierce and practical side, especially concerning the dojo's finances, where she can become quite aggressive about finding ways to earn money. When pushed to an emotional extreme, she can lose herself to a berserker rage, a manifestation of her Dou-type fighting instincts that makes her a fearsome and nearly uncontrollable fighter, a side of herself that she fears.

Miu plays a pivotal role in the story as the person who first brings Kenichi to the Ryozanpaku dojo after defending him from bullies, becoming both his closest ally and primary motivation for growing stronger. Her position in the narrative is that of a highly skilled disciple who often protects Kenichi in the early parts of his journey, though she later becomes a training partner and sparring opponent as he develops. Her key relationships include a strong, loving bond with her grandfather, Hayato, who shaped her life and martial arts. Her relationship with Kenichi is central, forming a mutual love interest that grows from friendship into deep affection, marked by moments of jealousy, protectiveness, and emotional support. She also interacts with the other Ryozanpaku masters, who treat her like family, and forms friendships with rivals and fellow fighters such as Renka Ma and Kisara Nanjo.

Over the course of the series, Miu develops from a socially isolated and slightly naive girl into a more confident young woman who forms genuine friendships and comes to understand her own feelings. She discards her glasses and braids to embrace her true self, no longer hiding her appearance. A significant arc involves her being brainwashed by the master Silcardo Jenazad, who teaches her the basics of Pencak Silat, which she learns with great proficiency and later retains after being brought back to her senses by Kenichi. This trauma and her evolving relationship with Kenichi help her mature, culminating in a stronger sense of self and a willingness to fight for what she believes in.

In terms of abilities, Miu is an exceptionally gifted martial artist, arguably one of the most powerful high school-aged fighters in the series. Her fighting style is unnamed but highly acrobatic, utilizing many kicks, quick punches, and aerial maneuvers. She is a Dou-type fighter who relies on instinct and emotion in combat. Her speed and agility are her greatest assets, allowing her to dodge attacks from master-class fighters, run up walls using the Furinji Sakasa Hitoudory technique, and reduce her reaction time using a sixth-sense ability called Rittoku No Kan. Among her notable techniques are the Furinji Kouho Yoku, where she spins like a drill to strike an opponent from above, which her grandfather calls her most powerful attack, and the Furinji Benikawasemi, a powerful mid-air cross kick. After her brainwashing, she also gains knowledge of Pencak Silat weapon forms and techniques such as the Juls Combo. She is also surprisingly intelligent, maintaining perfect academic scores, and possesses practical knowledge of espionage, including lock-picking and bomb disposal, from her travels with her grandfather.
