Movie
Description
Inspector Ginzo Nakamori leads the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department's second division, commanding the primary task force dedicated to apprehending the phantom thief Kaitou Kid. He possesses a fiery, boisterous personality, frequently shouting orders at his officers and erupting in frustration when his plans collapse. Despite repeated failures, he radiates extreme self-confidence, often proclaiming his imminent capture of Kid during live news broadcasts. His extensive experience chasing Kid is undermined by impulsivity, leading him to pursue decoys or rashly disable security systems, inadvertently aiding Kid's escape.

Capturing Kid defines Nakamori's career. He shifted focus from homicide investigations to almost exclusively handling Kid-related cases. He acknowledges Kid's moral code, respecting that the thief would never commit murder or similarly severe crimes. Paradoxically, Nakamori grows concerned during lulls in Kid's activity, feeling purposeless without heist notices. His pursuit spans both the original Kaitou Kid (Toichi Kuroba) decades earlier and the current Kid (Kaito Kuroba), though he remains unaware of their identities or familial connection.

Nakamori is father to Aoko Nakamori. His all-consuming dedication to capturing Kid severely limits his time for his daughter, though Aoko occasionally brings him lunch during work. He harbors a fierce professional rivalry, particularly resenting the prospect of detective Saguru Hakuba capturing Kid and claiming credit.

During the events of *The Fist of Blue Sapphire*, Nakamori participates in the investigation surrounding the theft of the legendary "Fist of Blue Sapphire" gem, targeted by Kaitou Kid in Singapore. This heist unfolds alongside a murder case involving lawyer Sherilyn Tan, linked to the gem's owner Zhon Han Chen, and karate champion Makoto Kyogoku. Nakamori is part of the law enforcement response when Kid infiltrates the high-security vault within Leon Lowe's Singapore mansion. Though Kid is temporarily subdued by Lowe and his associate Hezli Jamaluddin, he escapes during a confrontation with Makoto Kyogoku, continuing Nakamori's pattern of near-captures ending in the thief's evasion.

The "gin" (銀) in Nakamori's given name translates to "silver," aligning with other characters in the *Magic Kaito* universe having color-associated names. He is often compared to Inspector Zenigata from *Lupin the Third* due to their shared career-long dedication to pursuing a single master thief, though Nakamori displays less personal dependency on the pursuit than his counterpart.
