Movie
Description
Kaito Kuroba, publicly renowned as the gentleman thief Kaitou Kid, is a high school student who uncovered that his father Toichi Kuroba—the original Kaitou Kid—was murdered by a criminal organization. Assuming the Kid persona to investigate his father's killers, Kaito learned they sought Pandora, a gem rumored to grant immortality under a specific comet. His mission transformed into locating and destroying Pandora to thwart the organization, frequently stealing jewels to scrutinize them under moonlight for the gem's unique traits before returning them.

In his civilian life, Kaito attends Ekoda High School alongside childhood friend Aoko Nakamori, oblivious to his double life despite intermittent doubts. They share mutual romantic feelings, though neither openly acknowledges it. He interacts with classmate Saguru Hakuba, a detective rival who suspects his identity, and Akako Koizumi, a witch intrigued by his immunity to her magic. Kaito's mother, Chikage Kuroba, knows of his activities and formerly operated as the thief Phantom Lady.

Kaito demonstrates extraordinary intelligence, with an analyzed IQ of 400, and possesses a photographic memory. His expertise spans stage magic, escapology, ventriloquism, and sleight of hand. He excels at lockpicking, safecracking, hacking, and marksmanship with his card gun. Athletic talents include skiing, hang-gliding, and acrobatics, though he cannot ice skate or play billiards. A defining weakness is severe ichthyophobia, provoking intense reactions to aquatic life. As Kid, he employs gadgets like a hang-glider cape, smoke bombs, and flawlessly precise disguises that replicate mannerisms, voices, and physical traits without masks, capitalizing on his natural resemblance to Shinichi Kudo.

Kaito's moral code ensures he only keeps stolen items if they are Pandora or aid his mission, otherwise returning them. He intervenes to shield innocents, notably allying with Conan Edogawa (Shinichi Kudo's alias) against graver threats. Their dynamic merges rivalry with mutual respect; Kaito knows Conan's true identity and has impersonated Shinichi to assist him, even posing as Shiho Miyano (Sherry) to deceive the Black Organization.

In *The Fist of Blue Sapphire*, Kaito kidnaps Conan and smuggles him to Singapore to bypass passport controls, coercing Conan into the alias "Arthur Hirai." They collaborate to steal the Blue Sapphire Fist gem while probing a murder framing Kid. After capture and near-drowning during an initial heist, Kaito escapes and pursues the gem, confronting criminal psychologist Leon Lowe and martial artist Makoto Kyogoku. His actions expose the true perpetrators behind the murder and bombings, recovering the gem.

Kaito maintains a playful, confident facade during heists, often taunting authorities like Inspector Nakamori (Aoko's father). Behind this lies concealed emotional vulnerability, particularly about his father's death, masked by a "poker face." His double life strains his bond with Aoko, though he remains fiercely protective of her.
