Movie
Description
Hiroshi Agasa lives next door to Shinichi Kudo and has been friends with Shinichi and Ran Mouri since childhood. He attended Teitan Elementary School and later Okuho Middle School. In sixth grade, he met Fusae Kinoshita, but she moved away during the fall term; his own family then relocated from Tokyo to the countryside shortly after the term ended. His relatives include his deceased great-uncle, Kurisuke Agasa, who died 50 years prior at age 38, and his great-aunt, Teiko Agasa, who died at age 76 about one year before the current timeline. He also has an unnamed cousin and that cousin's granddaughter.
Agasa works as an inventor and engineer, supporting himself through patents and inventions. While many of his creations prove impractical or damage his home laboratory, others achieve commercial success, funding his large house and necessary rebuilds. His inventions include video games enthusiastically tested by the Detective Boys. After Shinichi's physical transformation into a child due to the APTX 4869 poison, Agasa was the first person Shinichi encountered and confided in. Convinced of Shinichi's identity, Agasa advised caution against the Black Organization and helped establish Shinichi's new identity as Conan Edogawa. He designed numerous gadgets to aid Conan's covert detective work, such as voice-changing bowties, stun-gun wristwatches, turbo-engine skateboards, and badge-shaped walkie-talkies with tracking functions for the Detective Boys. Agasa enrolled Conan at Teitan Elementary School, leading to the formation of the Detective Boys.
When Shiho Miyano escaped the Black Organization, she collapsed near Agasa's doorstep while seeking Shinichi's home. Agasa provided shelter, learned her true identity, and aided her in assuming the identity of Ai Haibara. He later informed Shinichi's parents about their son's condition. Agasa serves as a paternal figure and confidant for both Shinichi and the Detective Boys, frequently organizing trips that inadvertently involve criminal cases. His vehicle, a yellow Volkswagen Beetle owned for over a decade, is notoriously unreliable and often breaks down during excursions. Agasa possesses a valuable Persian rug entangled in a theft investigation, preventing its sale to fund a car replacement.
Agasa exhibits a jovial, caring, and outgoing personality, fostering numerous community connections that help conceal Conan and Haibara's origins by presenting them as children of acquaintances. He demonstrates high intelligence through his inventions, some utilized in official events. Despite being a bachelor, he displays paternal affection toward the Detective Boys. He harbors a particular fondness for pasta and tomato juice and exhibits remarkable luck in winning food-related prizes and lotteries. Physically, he appears slightly older than his actual age, with an average height, a somewhat overweight frame, baldness on the crown of his head, and silver hair elsewhere. He sports thick eyebrows, a mustache, a bulbous nose, wears round glasses, and typically dresses in laboratory attire.
In "The Fist of Blue Sapphire," Agasa appears only in scenes set in Japan prior to the Singapore storyline. He does not travel to Singapore with the main characters, as Conan is covertly transported there by Kaito Kid without a passport. Consequently, his involvement remains limited to his established supporting role within Japan, with no significant character development or unique contributions specific to this film. His participation aligns with recurring series depictions: providing technological assistance and serving as a guardian figure during the Detective Boys' activities.
