Description
Hizuki Jin serves as one of the two personal bodyguards to Princess Kyoko Suomi in the manga Time Stranger Kyoko. His past is marked by tragedy and displacement. As a child, he was adopted into the Ryuuzoku, also known as the Dragon Clan, making him the step-brother of Sakataki Jin. After their clan was destroyed, Hizuki was the one who rescued his younger step-brother, and the two were subsequently taken in by the King of Earth. Following this event, both brothers requested to be appointed as Kyoko's protectors.

Hizuki presents a stark contrast to his serious and duty-driven step-brother. While Sakataki is stern and focused, Hizuki is often seen fooling around, displaying a humorous and easygoing nature that makes him seem very sympathetic. He is characterized as someone who is difficult to disturb, possessing a level-headed and charming demeanor. However, this light-hearted exterior is a deliberate facade, as it is never entirely clear what he is truly thinking; underneath the jokes and playful attitude lies a much more complex and calculating individual.

His primary role in the story is that of Kyoko's bodyguard, accompanying her on her quest to find the twelve Strangers and the God Stones needed to awaken her sleeping twin sister, Princess Ui. While he initially appears to be a supportive ally who enjoys teasing Kyoko, his motivations run deeper and more personal. He harbors a secret love for Kyoko, though he is aware that her affections lie with his brother, Sakataki. Unable to accept this, he devises a manipulative plan to bind Kyoko to himself. He deliberately breaks a law by kissing her while she is asleep, knowing that the punishment is execution, but also knowing that Kyoko would sacrifice her own freedom to save him by offering to become his fiancée.

Hizuki's relationship with Sakataki is the most pivotal in his history. Although Hizuki is the elder brother, it was Sakataki who was chosen to be the heir to the Dragon Clan, a slight that Hizuki could never forgive. In a shocking revelation, it is disclosed that Hizuki was the one who destroyed the Dragon Clan, saving only Sakataki because he wanted his brother to be the one to eventually kill him, allowing him to die as an honorable demon-kirit (a half-demon). Despite this betrayal and deep-seated jealousy, their bond is complex. Sakataki knew the truth about his brother all along and had already forgiven him, while Hizuki secretly respects Sakataki as the only person who truly accepted him as a brother.

Throughout the narrative, Hizuki undergoes significant development as his true nature and past are revealed. He transitions from a seemingly frivolous comic relief character to the primary emotional antagonist of the final arc, before ultimately finding a measure of reconciliation with Sakataki and Kyoko. A major turning point is the revelation that he possesses notable abilities of his own; he is not merely a bodyguard but also the final, missing member of the group Kyoko seeks. Hizuki Jin is the Ice Stranger, a powerful individual capable of harnessing a God Stone. He is also proficient with the Li Knight, a legendary demon-slaying sword, which serves as proof of his status as a demon-kirit.
