Description
Ginga Sōba is a character from the anime series Time Stranger Kyoko. He is the brother of Mizuno, the leader of the fish clan, and also the brother of Sarai, the head of the snake clan. His family history is marked by conflict, as the snake and fish clans are established as enemies.
Ginga is a member of the bandit group known as Coppamijin, serving under its leader, Widoseek. His decision to join this group is a significant part of his background. He leaves his own clan to follow Widoseek permanently, stating his intention to stay with the bandit leader forever rather than return to his family. His motivations for this choice are twofold. One reason is to prevent his sister Mizuno from having to witness him marry someone else, as an arranged marriage would be an expectation he wishes to escape. The other is his desire to help Widoseek search for a medicine to cure a special illness that the bandit leader suffers from.
His relationship with his sister Mizuno is complex. Despite his departure, Mizuno confesses that she loves him truly, even acknowledging him as her brother. Ginga does not reciprocate her desire for him to return to the clan, remaining steadfast in his allegiance to Widoseek. In the story, Ginga is the original owner of the shell stone, a powerful artifact connected to the sea. When this stone is lost and ends up in the hands of another character named Lalzone, the very existence of the ocean and its dwellers is threatened. Princess Kyoko, the protagonist, travels back in time specifically to find Ginga and retrieve the shell stone from him to restore the sea. He is also revealed to be part of the bandit group where Widoseek is the brother of both Ginga and Sarai.
