Description
Natsumi Kugayama is a supporting character in the anime Aqua Age, also known as Mizuiro Jidai, which follows the coming-of-age story of junior high school student Yuko Kawai. Natsumi is a younger kouhai, one year below Yuko and Hiroshi Naganuma, and serves as the energetic manager of Hiroshi’s soccer team. She has brown hair and brown eyes, and her personality is consistently perky and diligent; she takes her managerial role seriously, regularly bringing food and towels for the team members. Her warm and helpful nature makes her well-liked by her peers. Despite knowing that Hiroshi is already in a relationship with Yuko, Natsumi develops a strong crush on him and actively pursues his attention, even going so far as to knit him a sweater as a personal confession. However, when she realizes that Hiroshi’s feelings are firmly with Yuko, she does not persist; she gives up cleanly and gracefully, stepping back without lingering bitterness. Her presence creates a significant source of jealousy for Yuko, who feels threatened by Natsumi’s charm and dedication. Through this dynamic, Natsumi inadvertently pushes Yuko to confront her own insecurities and strengthen her bond with Hiroshi. Natsumi’s arc revolves around innocent infatuation, and her ability to accept rejection with maturity contributes to the story’s theme of growing up and understanding the complexities of young love. Her notable abilities include organizational skills as a soccer team manager and the handmade craft of knitting, which she uses to express her feelings. Beyond her role as a romantic rival, she is portrayed as a kind and hardworking girl who values her responsibilities and ultimately respects the happiness of others.
