Description
Latolata is a member of the Blentrons, a trio of mysterious warriors who serve the cosmic entity Unicron in the anime Beast Wars Neo. His beast mode is a fusion of a lionfish and a hornet, giving him a bizarre and intimidating appearance. Among the three Blentrons, Latolata is described as the most cruel and vicious, the one most willing to sacrifice anything—including his companions Elphaorpha and Drancron—to fulfill his mission. He functions as the group's assassination specialist, often using stealth and poison-based attacks.

Latolata's primary motivation is the successful revival of Unicron. The Blentrons work to collect the scattered Angolmois Capsules that contain the energy needed to restore their master. Latolata shows no loyalty to anyone or anything beyond Unicron's cause and is entirely ruthless in carrying out orders. He does not hesitate to deceive or attack both Maximals and Predacons alike, and he treats the other Blentrons as expendable tools.

In the story, Latolata and his companions appear as a mysterious third faction that intervenes in the ongoing capsule war between Big Convoy's Maximals and Magmatron's Predacons. They are introduced after both sides have gathered several capsules, and they prove overwhelmingly powerful. The Blentrons use wormholes to travel and frequently overwhelm their enemies with combined attacks and situational tricks. Latolata participates in several key confrontations: he assists in raiding the Maximal ship Gung Ho, steals capsules from both factions, fights alongside Elphaorpha aboard the Predacon ship Dinosaur, and sets traps using invisible surveillance. At the asteroid hideout where Unicron is resurrected, Latolata and the others defend their master. Later, they accompany Unicron as he moves toward Cybertron, attacking Maximal bases and ambushing Big Convoy's team at the Triple Z Point. Toward the end, Latolata is present when Unicron absorbs the Blentrons' collected energy, and he is ultimately consumed by Unicron when the entity runs low on power, a fate shared by his teammates.

Latolata has little individual development; he remains a single-minded servant throughout. His relationship with Unicron is that of a loyal minion, and his bond with the other Blentrons is purely utilitarian. He shows no camaraderie and is quick to abandon or endanger them if it serves the mission.

Latolata possesses several notable abilities. He wields a rapid-firing weapon called the Poison Arrow that delivers venom. His wings can scatter a numbing powder known as Dust Hornet. The spikes on his large head can separate and be used as the Lato Thrasher, a close-range weapon. He can also turn partially invisible to spy on enemies. In terms of durability, the Blentrons are depicted as being highly resistant to damage—attacks from both Maximals and Predacons often fail to harm them, and they can only be temporarily slowed by overwhelming firepower. Latolata and his allies can also create and navigate wormholes for instantaneous travel across space.
