TV-Series
Description
Motorarm is a Maximal who serves as a member of the Jointron brothers, a trio of cheerful and energetic warriors. He is the middle sibling, alongside his brothers DJ and Gimlet. The Jointrons originally received orders from Maximal command to travel to the planet Trius for a defensive assignment, but their ship malfunctioned and forced them to crash-land on the planet Gaia. Upon arrival, they encountered both the Predacons and the Maximals already stationed there, initially mistaking the Maximals for enemies before quickly correcting the error and introducing themselves as the Jointrons.

Motorarm’s personality is defined by his excitable and highly sociable nature. He is endlessly enthusiastic about partying, music, and having a good time, often playing instruments and dancing with his brothers. This carefree attitude frequently makes him a source of comic relief, but also a cause of frustration for the more serious members of Lio Convoy’s team. The Jointrons are known as troublemakers who often act without thinking, yet they retain a sense of Maximal pride and a genuine desire to help, albeit in a chaotic fashion. Lio Convoy himself describes their approach as simply having a different way of protecting peace.

In terms of background and motivation, Motorarm is training sumo-style under the Trius stable of the Universal Sumo Association, a discipline meant to curb his overexcitement. His physical strength is his most outstanding trait; even in his base form, he is powerful enough to lift the massive Predacon Megastorm with one hand. This raw power is fueled by his consumption of energon chanko-nabe, a hearty stew that is a staple of sumo wrestler diets. Despite his strength, his inability to stay focused on anything other than having fun often gives opponents an advantage. He is simultaneously training and learning to channel his energy more effectively through combat.

Motorarm’s role in the story is primarily as a member of a supporting team that provides both combat support and lighthearted moments. The Jointrons often go on patrols or engage the Predacons on their own initiative, frequently getting into trouble that requires rescue by the other Maximals. However, when they combine with DJ and Gimlet to form the gestalt warrior Tripledacus, they become a powerful asset in larger battles. Their combined form played a key role in several engagements, including holding off Predacon forces during the Maximals’ attempt to launch toward the Nemesis, the artificial planet that Galvatron used to drain Gaia’s Angolmois Energy.

Key relationships include his bond with his two brothers, with whom he bickers yet works seamlessly in combat. The trio often debates who among them is the leader, with Motorarm claiming the position based on his strength. They also interact frequently with other Maximals such as Lio Convoy, Apache, Tasmania Kid, and Diver, and their antics occasionally pull these teammates into their schemes. The Jointrons also encountered the Space Pirate Seacons, and Motorarm participated in a plan to help Bighorn win the affection of the Seacon Scylla, which ended in a chaotic confrontation.

Development is subtle but present. Over the course of the series, Motorarm and his brothers gradually learn to cooperate better with the rest of the Maximals and to take their duties more seriously, even if their core exuberance never fades. In the climactic battle against the Nemesis, they contribute meaningfully, and in the sequel series Beast Wars Neo, the Jointrons are shown to have returned to Cybertron and are aiding in the planet’s reconstruction, still combined as Tripledacus.

Notable abilities include his immense physical strength, the Magma Horn mounted on his head that can melt objects with its light and heat, and a retractable steel blade called the Utchari (Pullback) Claw stored in his shell. In his beast mode, he takes the form of a rhinoceros beetle, which allows flight and powerful climbing. His combination with DJ and Gimlet into Tripledacus is his most significant ability, granting the gestalt the collective power of all three brothers.
