Description
Comandante Miwa, also known as General Sakimori Miwa or General Harris in some adaptations, is a central antagonist in the anime Fighting General Daimos. He holds the high-ranking position of secretary and commander within the Earth Defense Force, reporting to the United Nations, and is a hardline militarist who sees the war against the Baam aliens as an opportunity for total extermination rather than a conflict to be resolved.

Miwa is defined by extreme xenophobia and a belief in human supremacy over the Baam refugees. He is a ruthless opportunist who consistently prioritizes his own ambition and desire to annihilate the enemy over the lives of both innocent civilians and his own soldiers. His personality is that of a control freak and a bully, who deeply resents any authority or power he does not personally command. He is envious of the Daimobic Base and its control over the super-robot Daimos, which he sees as a tool that should be used under his sole direction to destroy the Baam. His character is often seen as a human counterpart to the Baam antagonist Olban, illustrating that corruption and bigotry are not exclusive to one side of the conflict.

Miwa's primary motivation is the complete genocide of the Baam race. He uses his official role in the Earth Defense Force as a cover to pursue this goal, and he is willing to go to any length to achieve it. He frequently clashes with the main protagonist, Kazuya Ryuzaki, who believes in protecting the innocent and seeking peace. Miwa disparages Kazuya's humanitarian methods, accusing him of being unpatriotic or a traitor whenever he defies orders or tries to save Baam lives. In one notable instance, he refuses to defend the city of Nagasaki from an attack, declaring that human lives who do not wish to fight are not worth living. He even demands the use of nuclear weapons against the enemy, defying direct orders from the United Nations in his lust for power and destruction.

Throughout the story, Miwa serves as a major internal obstacle for the protagonists. While the Daimobic Base fights the external Baam threat, Miwa constantly undermines them from within the Earth’s own military hierarchy. He attempts to take control of the Daimos robot by any means necessary, even going so far as to falsely accuse Kazuya of treason, imprison him, and torture him to extract the secrets of the super-robot. His key relationships are almost exclusively adversarial. He is a constant tormentor to Kazuya Ryuzaki, a threat to the peace-seeking Baam princess Erika, and a source of frustration for the rest of the Daimobic crew.

Miwa undergoes a negative arc, escalating his villainy until he reaches a point of no return. In a pivotal confrontation, after Kazuya has defeated several Baam soldiers and left them unconscious, Miwa seizes the opportunity to execute the helpless and wounded prisoners in cold blood. This final, brutal act of cruelty strips away his last pretense of being a military commander fighting for Earth, revealing him as a simple murderer. In response, Kazuya attacks him directly, beating him unconscious. Following this incident, Miwa’s extensive corruption and war crimes are exposed, leading to his arrest, the stripping of his ranks, and his ultimate exile or imprisonment by the very authorities he claimed to serve. He does not pilot a mecha or possess any supernatural powers; his notable abilities lie in his political authority, his rank, and his willingness to use any underhanded tactic, including torture and defying civilian command, to pursue his genocidal agenda.
