Description
Obsidian taught at the Royal Ortigia Magic Academy, cultivating an image as a friendly, kind, and popular instructor, especially with female students. He displayed formidable magical knowledge and seemed dedicated to his students' academic success. This persona masked his true nature as a psychopathic scientist fixated on chaotic magical experimentation. Secretly, he performed illegal and unethical experiments, using students as test subjects by injecting them with doses derived from low-ranking devils, causing severe adverse effects. His obsession with advancing his research drove him to exploit those under his care.

His descent into overt villainy began after witnessing a duel involving Alto Goldfield and the powerful devil Vermeil. Suspecting Vermeil's true nature, he confirmed she was a devil and became obsessed with possessing her. In a calculated act, he dosed Vermeil with a devil-derived substance, attempting to bind her to his will through mind control chains, deluded that he was a more worthy master than Alto. Vermeil effortlessly resisted his control due to her loyalty to Alto and overwhelming power.

Following this failure, he consumed an extremely potent dose derived from one hundred low-ranking devils, triggering a monstrous physical transformation. Despite this augmentation, he remained delusional about his strength, vowing to kill Vermeil and harvest her organs to create more powerful doses. Vermeil easily overwhelmed him in their confrontation, exposing his inherent weakness. His cowardice emerged as he attempted to flee, only to be intercepted by Chris Westland. He begged for mercy but was rendered unconscious and subsequently arrested by Ortigia's authorities.

After imprisonment, he broke out of jail and remained a fugitive, officially classified as a criminal by the academy and law enforcement. His affiliation with Iolite and the Platinum Squared magicians was revealed, though they discarded him as a pawn once his usefulness ended, viewing him as weak and insignificant. His actions directly forced Alto to reveal Vermeil's devil identity to the student council and Lilia Kudelfeyt, acting as a catalyst for conflict within the academy.
