Description
Kinoppi is a character from the anime Paul no Miracle Daisakusen. He is a small, humanoid creature created from a mushroom by the main antagonist, Belt Satan. His very existence is a product of dark magic, as Belt Satan infused a non-sentient toadstool with intelligence and mobility to serve as a loyal subordinate.

In terms of personality, Kinoppi embodies the typical henchman of a children's fantasy series. He has a persistent and somewhat nasty disposition, taking pleasure in carrying out acts of tyranny over the inhabitants of the dimensional world where much of the story takes place. He is loyal to Belt Satan, though this loyalty is primarily driven by fear of his master's power. Despite his role as a minor villain, Kinoppi has a foolish and somewhat comical side, and his small stature and cute design often contrast with his malicious intentions. He cowers before Belt Satan but is eager to abuse the authority given to him over others.

Kinoppi's primary motivation is to serve Belt Satan and thwart the protagonist Paul in his quest to rescue his friend Nina. He acts as Belt Satan's field commander and enforcer, disseminating the demon ruler's orders and directly engaging Paul and his allies. He appears in many episodes as a recurring obstacle, using various tricks to try and stop the heroes. His role in the story is that of a secondary antagonist, a direct agent of the main villain who provides a constant, tangible threat throughout the series.

His key relationships define his entire arc. He is completely subservient to Belt Satan, who treats him with consistent mistreatment and verbal abuse, especially after any failure. This abusive dynamic forms the core of his existence. In contrast, his relationship with Paul and his companions begins with hostility but undergoes a significant change. When Belt Satan later deems Kinoppi expendable and attempts to execute him, Kinoppi survives and is found and nursed back to health by Paul's group. Their kindness leads to his defection, and he joins forces with Paul, the magical plush doll Pakkun, and the flying dog Doppe to fight against his former master.

Kinoppi experiences a notable character development from a servile villain to a redeemed ally. After being betrayed and then cared for by his enemies, he realizes the error of his ways and actively helps them in the final battle, even throwing himself in harm's way to protect Paul. This redemption is tragic, as Kinoppi understands that his sentient life is intrinsically tied to Belt Satan's magic. When Belt Satan is finally defeated, Kinoppi rapidly weakens. He bids a grateful farewell to Paul and the others, accepting his fate, before permanently reverting to his original, non-communicative state as a simple mushroom.

Regarding his notable abilities, Kinoppi has a few powers derived from his fungal nature. He can fly by riding on a log, which he uses as a form of transportation. He also has the ability to scatter spores from his body, which is potent enough to make ordinary creatures cry. These abilities make him an annoying trickster foe, though he is not shown to be overwhelmingly powerful and is often easily suppressed by stronger monsters.
