Description
Hohsalle is a prominent physician in the Zol Empire, renowned for his medical expertise and prior service treating the royal family, including Lord Yotalu's mother. The loss of his own mother to Black Wolf Fever fuels his relentless dedication to finding a cure, driving his actions throughout the narrative.

Learning of Van's survival and apparent immunity after an Ossum wolf attack at the salt mines, Hohsalle deduces Van's blood may hold the key. He pursues Van, enlisting the tracker Sae, aiming to study the immunity scientifically and develop a treatment for the plague disproportionately affecting Zolians.

He operates with firm commitment to scientific principles, rejecting superstitious explanations and insisting on empirical evidence. This rigor leads him to identify a new plague strain capable of infecting both Zolians and Aquafa people, challenging previous assumptions about its selectivity.

During the journey to locate Van, Hohsalle forms an uneasy alliance with Van and Sae, especially after Yuna's capture. He negotiates a pact: providing medical aid to Van in exchange for Van's cooperation in blood research after Yuna's rescue. This forces Hohsalle to navigate conflicting loyalties and political pressures, including opposition from Aquafa resistance factions viewing Van's immunity as a threat. His scientific rigor persists as he analyzes immunity factors beyond simple blood ties, continuing research despite obstacles.

Hohsalle demonstrates flexibility and willingness to collaborate across cultural divides for his medical mission. He works alongside former adversaries, maintains calm amidst conflict, and prioritizes eradicating the plague over political or ethnic divisions. His perseverance underscores his dedication as a healer committed to alleviating suffering through scientific discovery.
