TV-Series
Description
Princesa Orie, also known as the Crystal Princess, is a young girl who joins Prince Kurt on his journey in the anime Pygmalio. She is one of two characters in the story who share the name Orie, the other being the spirit Orie, Kurt's aunt, and the two are often distinguished as the little Orie and the big Orie. As the Princess of the Crystal, Orie comes from a noble background, but she is also a gifted fortune teller whose predictions frequently prove to be accurate.
Orie first encounters Kurt during his travels and is immediately impressed by him, largely because he is journeying alone. Her admiration stems from her own circumstances, as she has been sheltered and overprotected by her mother, so Kurt's independence and courage represent something entirely unfamiliar to her. This admiration gradually deepens into a devoted, single-minded love for Kurt, and she chooses to accompany him on his quest despite the dangers it brings.
Her role in the story is that of a loyal companion and a tragic figure. While Kurt's original goal is to rescue his mother, who was turned to stone by Medusa, Orie's presence and the strength of her feelings broaden the purpose of his journey, giving him something additional to fight for beyond his initial mission. She is carried along by fate through various hardships and ultimately sacrifices herself, an act of devotion that leaves a lasting impact on Kurt and the others who travel with him.
In terms of personality, Orie is characterized by her sincerity, vulnerability, and willingness to give everything for the person she loves. Her sheltered upbringing makes her appear fragile and dependent at first, but her love for Kurt gives her the courage to confront adversity. Her development follows a path from a protected girl who admires independence in others to someone who makes her own painful choice, selecting sacrifice over safety.
Orie's notable abilities center on her gift as a fortune teller. Her predictions, made through the reading of the stars, are usually correct, and this foresight plays a meaningful part in her role within the group as events unfold. As the Crystal Princess, she carries the dignity of her title, although the story places greater emphasis on her emotional journey and her love for Kurt than on any political or magical power she might hold.
