Description
Bongo is a member of the Jetters, an intergalactic team dedicated to protecting unique treasures across the universe. He hails from Planet Dodonpa, where he holds the distinguished position of the third prince, with his full name being Sarusamanbo Kongaragaccha Bosanovavitch Bongoro Dodonpa XXXIV. Despite his royal lineage, Bongo does not carry himself with an air of pompousness; instead, he is known for his easygoing personality and a notably slow, deliberate manner of speaking.

In terms of physical appearance and ability, Bongo is a large-bodied, hairy individual who, while appearing somewhat simple, is actually quite intelligent and capable of surprising feats of strength. One of his most defining traits is his love for inventing and tinkering. He frequently assists the Jetters' founder, Dr. Ein, with various inventions. His primary focus for these modifications is his best friend and teammate, Gangu, a robot whom Bongo constantly alters and upgrades to serve a variety of functions for missions or everyday life, often without seeking Gangu's permission. This habit is a source of frustration for Gangu, who specifically dislikes when Bongo modifies him for cooking purposes.

Bongo plays a crucial role in the development of the team's younger members. He acts as a mentor to White Bomber, the protagonist, by training him in the fundamentals of combat. Bongo teaches White Bomber how to properly throw bombs and guides him in learning to use new types of bombs, directly contributing to the younger hero's growth. His role is largely supportive, using his inventive skills to bolster the team's capabilities and his strength to assist in direct action. He is a character who strongly emphasizes the importance of teamwork.

Beyond his mechanical aptitude, Bongo has a notable appreciation for cuisine, particularly curry. He is skilled at making it and, like many from his species, has a great fondness for eating it. Another characteristic present in the original Japanese version of the anime is a verbal tic where he ends his sentences by saying his own name, "bongo." This trait was mostly omitted in the English localization.

His key relationships are well-defined. His partnership with Gangu is the most prominent, defined by his constant, unsolicited upgrades to the robot. He is also a loyal colleague to Dr. Ein, helping in the lab, and a patient and effective teacher to White Bomber. Throughout the story, Bongo remains a consistent and reliable presence within the Jetters, providing both comedic relief through his interactions with Gangu and practical support as the team's inventive muscle. His development is less about a personal arc and more about the steady application of his unique skills for the benefit of the group, solidifying his role as a dependable and essential member of the team.
