Description
Kai Hirose is a central character in the anime The Brave Command Dagwon. He is a seventeen-year-old student in his second year at Sankai High School and serves as the school's disciplinary committee chief, a role he takes very seriously. His family consists of his parents and a younger sister named Nagisa.

Personality-wise, Kai is characterized by a strict, calm, and serious demeanor. He is fundamentally a disciplinarian who believes in following rules and doing what is right, and he holds both himself and others to high standards. His commitment to order often clashes with the more easygoing or chaotic personalities of his teammates, making him rigid and inflexible at times. Despite this outwardly stern exterior, he possesses a hidden, softer side and can be emotionally affected by the plights of his friends, though he rarely shows it openly. He has a notable, almost comical fear of cockroaches, which stands in stark contrast to his otherwise unflappable image.

Kai is a member of the Dagwon team, initially known as the Liner Team, where his alter-ego is Turbo Kai. Within the group, he acts as the de facto strategist and field commander, often responsible for coordinating the team's actions during battles against alien criminals. While he initially showed reluctance and a negative attitude toward his duties as a hero, prioritizing his student responsibilities, he eventually becomes more dedicated as the series progresses. His role as a leader is crucial due to the strong and sometimes difficult personalities of his fellow warriors.

Regarding key relationships, Kai shares a complex and significant dynamic with his classmate and teammate, En Daidouji. Their opposing personalities create friction, but beneath the surface, Kai holds a deep respect for En and cares for him like a younger brother, making him one of the most supportive members of the team. He frequently reprimands the more playful or troublesome members, such as En and another teammate named Shin, for their lack of discipline. He also develops a notable connection with Galaxy Luna; he goes to great lengths to save her when she is captured and brainwashed, risking his life to appeal to her emotions.

Throughout the story, Kai undergoes a degree of character development. He starts as a reluctant hero who values his school duties above his role as a Dagwon, but grows to embrace his responsibilities, even going so far as to skip school to track down enemies. His relationships, particularly with En and Luna, help reveal the more emotional and caring person beneath his rigid exterior.

In terms of abilities, Kai is a skilled practitioner of kendo and is seldom seen without his bamboo sword, which he uses not only for training but also to enforce discipline and occasionally in combat. As a Dagwon, he pilots the Turbo Liner vehicle. He combines with his teammates to form more powerful robots, primarily serving as the main pilot when they merge into Liner Dagwon, Super Liner Dagwon, and Dag Turbo.
