Description
Lian is a robotic being known as a Space Swordsman from the planet Sword. He is the sole survivor of that world after the villain Alien Arch froze the entire planet, killing its two billion inhabitants. This catastrophic loss defines much of his early presence in the story. He arrives on Earth as an alien ally of the Dagwon team, a group of teenage heroes defending the planet from the escaped criminals of the space prison Sargasso.
At first, Lian is driven almost entirely by a desire for revenge against Alien Arch. He is consumed by hatred and grief, leading him to act alone and with a reckless disregard for his own safety. He initially abhors the idea of forming bonds with others, believing that attachment only leads to pain. His obsession is so intense that he is willing to attempt a self-destruct attack in order to destroy his enemy. Over time, however, his interactions with the Dagwon team help him begin to heal. He learns to move past his trauma and finds a new purpose beyond vengeance. He later discovers that at least one other member of his race survived off-world and possibly more, giving him hope for rebuilding his home.
In the story, Lian serves as both a powerful combatant and a mentor figure. His primary ability is to transform into a large sword known as the Lio Sword. In this form, he can be wielded by one of the Dagwon members, typically Fire Dagwon, to deliver a devastating finishing attack. He is also a skilled swordsman in his own right. Beyond combat, Lian takes on the role of teacher to the young robot Gunkid, who was originally corrupted by Sargasso but later joins the side of good. Through this mentorship, Lian passes on his combat knowledge and helps guide Gunkid’s development.
Lian’s key relationships are with the Dagwon team, particularly En Daidouji (Fire Dagwon), with whom he fights closely, and with Gunkid, whom he instructs.
