Description
Gerald Simpson is a central figure in the anime Thunderbirds 2086, serving as the Commander-in-chief of the International Rescue Organisation. Early production materials originally named him Dr. Gerald Simpson, though the character is also known by the name Warren Simpson in some contexts, with his Japanese counterpart being referred to as Jared Simpson. Born in Washington, he holds an extensive academic and professional background in Aerospace, Industrial, and Systems Engineering.

Before founding the IRO, Simpson was a deep space explorer for NASA, where he quickly rose through the ranks. His last assignment before his leadership role was as Commander of the spaceship UNSS Clarke. It was following this mission that he was summoned by the World Federation to discuss and implement plans for a dedicated global rescue organization, a task he ultimately headed from its inception.

In his capacity as commander, Gerald Simpson operates primarily from the IRO's Pacific Island base, known as the Arcology. He holds the rank of commander and acts as the primary mission coordinator for the Thunderbirds team, directing all rescue operations remotely without entering the field himself. His leadership style is characterized by an intense dedication and seriousness when it comes to saving lives. This dedication permeates his personality; he remains constantly focused on his assignment and has very little time for recreation.

This all-consuming commitment to his duties sometimes strains his personal relationships, most notably with his brother, Wayne Simpson, who expresses disappointment over his lack of leisure time. Despite this professional distance, a more personal side emerges in private moments, where Wayne affectionately refers to him by the nickname "Gerry". Simpson also maintains a relationship with his seven-year-old nephew, Skipper Simpson. While their dynamic is partly professional and avuncular, the boy idolizes the Thunderbirds and dreams of one day joining the IRO, though he remains a civilian. He maintains a leadership style that is professional yet avuncular, coordinating the team’s efforts from the base while managing the organizational responsibilities of running the IRO. There is no specific information regarding his personal character development throughout the series or any unique physical or technological abilities beyond those associated with his command and engineering expertise.
