Description
King Gyuma is a major antagonist in the anime Science Fiction Saiyuki Starzinger, serving as a powerful and ambitious warlord who rules over the Gilara star system. His overarching goal is to dominate the galaxy, and his primary method for achieving this is to capture Princess Aurora, whose special galaxy energy would grant him the supreme power he seeks. As the ruler of his domain, he commands a significant military force and expects absolute loyalty from his subordinates.

In terms of personality, King Gyuma is portrayed as a ruthless, calculating, and often impatient leader. He is not above using extreme measures to get what he wants, as seen when he orders his adjutant to execute his own operative, Bellamis, if she shows any sign of disobedience or failure. His impatience is a notable trait; as the protagonists of the series, the crew of the Cosmos, draw nearer to the heart of his territory, he becomes increasingly insistent, giving strict orders that Princess Aurora must be captured and her protectors, Kugo and the other cyborg warriors, must be eliminated by any means necessary.

His role in the story is that of a primary obstacle for the heroes during a significant portion of their journey. He directly engages with the main characters, such as when he corners the Cosmos with a space barrier and a sonic blaster weapon, demanding that the Princess be handed over to him. His forces are responsible for many of the attacks and traps that the protagonists must overcome, as he frequently dispatches his captains and deploys various monsters and weapons to stop their progress toward the Great Planet.

King Gyuma maintains several key relationships that define his actions. He is an ally, or perhaps a rival, of Queen Lassetz, another powerful villain who rules her own star system. Their alliance is one of convenience, as they share the common goal of capturing Princess Aurora, but they are also wary of each other's ambitions. Queen Lassetz actively plots to ensure Gyuma does not succeed in his plans, fearing that he would become the supreme ruler of the galaxy if he obtained the Princess first. Together, they coordinate military operations and lend each other their forces, though their partnership is fraught with tension and schemes. His other important relationships are with his subordinates, including captains like Galia and Golios, and his adjutant Murdoch, who carry out his orders. He also has a son named Prince Gaïma, who continues his legacy after his apparent defeat.

Regarding development, King Gyuma's character arc is defined by his escalating desperation and direct intervention as the heroes dismantle his plans and his subordinates fail. Initially, he commands from a distance, but as the series progresses into the episodes focused on his and Queen Lassetz's arcs, he takes a more active and personal role in the conflict, ultimately confronting the heroes directly. As for notable abilities, King Gyuma wields considerable technological power. He commands a vast space fleet and has access to formidable weapons, including a powerful sonic blaster capable of damaging the cyborg warriors' circuits and a technology that can create an inescapable spatial wall to trap his enemies.
