Description
Goro Yura is a fictional character from the television series Kamen Rider Ryuki. He is introduced as the devoted live-in servant and bodyguard of Shuichi Kitaoka, a prominent yet cynical lawyer. Goro is a young man in his mid-twenties, noted for his tall, athletic build and intense expression, which contrasts sharply with his gentle and earnest demeanor. His backstory reveals a deep sense of indebtedness that defines his entire existence. Originally, Goro was a client of Kitaoka's, having been accused of a crime. While Kitaoka successfully defended him and secured his acquittal, the effort caused the lawyer to miss a critical medical appointment where his terminal illness could have been detected earlier. Consumed by guilt over this outcome, Goro voluntarily dedicated his life to serving Kitaoka, effectively becoming his caretaker, housekeeper, cook, and protector for no pay beyond basic necessities.

In personality, Goro is a stark contrast to his employer. Where Kitaoka is often flippant, selfish, and cynical, Goro is sincere, hardworking, and morally grounded. He is exceptionally skilled in all aspects of household management, from cleaning and managing finances to preparing elaborate meals. Despite his thuggish appearance, he is innately kind and has a gentle disposition, which often puts him at odds with Kitaoka's more unscrupulous schemes. However, this loyalty is not blind; Goro frequently disapproves of Kitaoka's more cowardly or dishonest actions and is one of the few people who can coerce the strong-willed lawyer into doing the right thing. He serves as Kitaoka's conscience, providing emotional stability and a tether to humanity.

Goro's primary motivation is his unwavering loyalty to Shuichi Kitaoka. He functions as Kitaoka's anchor in the world, handling all the practical aspects of his life that Kitaoka, who is growing weaker from his illness, cannot. This devotion extends to Kitakoka's activities as a Kamen Rider. Goro is fully aware of the existence of the Mirror World and the Rider War, though he disapproves of Kitaoka's participation in it. He is unable to fight in Kitaoka's stead, but he provides logistical support and is constantly worried about his master's safety. His fondness extends to Shinji Kido, the protagonist, whom he recognizes as a genuinely harmless and naive individual who means no ill will toward Kitaoka. He is often caught in the middle of the chaotic relationship between Shinji and his own master.

As the story reaches its climax, Shuichi Kitaoka ultimately succumbs to his illness. In a final act of devotion, Goro refuses to let his master's death be meaningless. He takes Kitaoka's Card Deck and transforms into Kamen Rider Zolda to take his place in the Rider War. His most profound development is this transition from a supporting caretaker to a direct participant in the conflict. His goal is singular: to face and defeat Takeshi Asakura, Kamen Rider Ouja, a vicious killer and Kitaoka's arch-rival. However, while Goro is a formidable hand-to-hand combatant in the real world, he lacks experience as a Kamen Rider. He struggles to adapt to Zolda's long-range weaponry, a fighting style his master had mastered. In his final battle, Goro is outmaneuvered and fatally wounded by Ouja. His last words, even in death, are a promise to his deceased master to buy something good to eat on the way home, underscoring that his identity was forever tied to being Kitaoka's caretaker. In a restored timeline where the Rider War never occurs, Goro is shown to be alive and well, continuing his role as Kitaoka's loyal secretary.

In terms of abilities, Goro is a highly capable individual even before becoming a Rider. He possesses significant skill in hand-to-hand combat, which initially leads other characters to mistake him for Kamen Rider Zolda. As a civilian, his fighting prowess is enough to handle multiple assailants. As a Kamen Rider, Goro briefly inherits the full powers of Zolda. His Rider form is characterized by heavy, mechanized armor and immense firepower. Zolda's key abilities include using the Magnuvisor, a submachine gun-style visor used to summon his equipment. He employs long-range weaponry such as the GigaLauncher, a massive missile launcher, and the GigaCannon, a pair of shoulder-mounted cannons. His ultimate attack, the Final Vent named End of World, summons his contract monster, Magnugiga, to unleash a devastating all-weapons barrage. Despite these immense offensive capabilities, Zolda is noted for having poor agility, making him vulnerable to close-range fighters like Ouja, a weakness Goro could not overcome.
