Description
Masashi Sudou is a detective by profession, but he uses his position to conceal his true nature as a cold and calculating murderer. He partnered with the antique shop owner Tomoyuki Kaga to commit crimes, but after Kaga demanded a larger share of the profits, Sudou killed him and hid his body within the wall of the shop. Shortly after this murder, Shiro Kanzaki appeared and offered Sudou a Rider deck. Sudou accepted without hesitation and formed a contract with the Mirror Monster Volcancer, becoming Kamen Rider Scissors. As Scissors, he continued his killing spree, feeding victims to Volcancer and covering up the disappearances through his police connections. His personality is ruthless, manipulative, and devoid of remorse. He is willing to deceive others, as shown when he tricks the journalist Shinji Kido into revealing the identities of fellow Riders and the location of Yui Kanzaki. Sudou's primary motivation is self-preservation and the elimination of anyone who might expose his crimes; he has no interest in the wish promised to the Rider War winner beyond using it to further his own survival. In the story, he serves as an early antagonist, first encountering Ren Akiyama (Kamen Rider Knight) and Shinji Kido. He kidnaps Yui Kanzaki to use her as leverage, but is thwarted by Ren and Shinji. His pursuit of the journalist Reiko leads to a final confrontation, where his Vent Deck is destroyed during battle with Kamen Rider Knight. With the contract broken, Volcancer immediately turns on him, devouring him. His death illustrates the fate of Riders who betray their contract monsters. In the alternate 13 Riders special, he appears briefly as part of a scheme but is killed by Kamen Rider Ouja. Sudou has no genuine allies among the other Riders and forms no lasting bonds. As Kamen Rider Scissors, his design is inspired by a crab and a medieval knight. He wields a left-forearm-mounted Scissors Visor to access Advent Cards. His abilities include summoning Volcancer through the Advent card, using the Strike Vent to transform his right hand into a large pincer called the Scissors Pincer, deploying the Guard Vent to create a shield called Shell Defense, and executing his Final Vent, named Scissors Attack, in which he uses Volcancer's claws as a springboard to perform a high-speed spinning aerial strike. His fighting style relies on brute force and close-range combat, though he rarely coordinates with Volcancer and tends to use the monster merely as a distraction. His physical specifications include a height of 190 centimeters, a weight of 63 kilograms, visual and auditory range of approximately 10 kilometers, a running speed of 100 meters in five seconds, and a jump height of 35 meters.
