Description
Great Britain, designated Cyborg 007, is a character whose real name remains unknown. Originally from the United Kingdom, he was once a celebrated and beloved stage actor, but a scandal destroyed his reputation and career. Driven by shame and despair, he developed a severe drinking problem and fell into a life of poverty and homelessness. It was in this vulnerable state that agents of the criminal organization Black Ghost easily lured him with the promise of alcohol, kidnapping him to be forcibly converted into a cyborg soldier. Depending on the adaptation, the specific nature of his disgrace varies. In some versions, his downfall is linked to guilt over abandoning his girlfriend, Sophie, after achieving fame. In others, he is wrongfully accused of murdering a fellow actor and close friend, a tragedy that haunts him deeply.

On the surface, Great Britain serves as the primary source of comic relief among the 00 cyborgs. He is almost always jolly and goodhearted, using jokes and a lighthearted demeanor to diffuse tension and lift the spirits of his comrades. He can appear flaky or cowardly, a trait sometimes exaggerated when he transforms into a comical, childlike version of himself, but this facade masks a loyal and courageous individual who will risk his life to protect his friends. He has a notable love-hate relationship with fellow cyborg 006, Chang Changku, as the two frequently bicker and poke fun at each other. Despite their squabbling, he holds a deep respect and trust for 006. He also has an honorable and affectionate side, particularly towards women, once falling deeply in love with the enemy cyborg 0012 and risking everything to save her. Underneath his cheerful exterior, Great Britain carries immense regret over the mistakes of his past, and his struggle with alcoholism, while often under control, remains a recurring demon that he battles throughout the story.

In the narrative, Great Britain’s primary role is that of infiltration and espionage. His ability to alter his form makes him the team’s ultimate spy, capable of gathering information or tricking adversaries unnoticed. A key part of his character development involves confronting his past. In a significant story arc, he returns to London and meets Rosa, the daughter of his former love, Sophie, who may also be his own child. Initially rejected by Rosa for his past betrayal, he eventually earns a chance at redemption by performing in the very play, Mists of London, that he and Sophie had once dreamed of staging together. This act of atonement allows him to reconcile with his history and find a measure of peace.

Great Britain’s notable ability is shapeshifting, activated by pressing a switch located in his navel. This mechanism allows him to reshape his cellular structure at will, enabling him to transform into any person, animal, or inanimate object he desires. Using this power, he can perfectly mimic another person's appearance, voice, and mannerisms, especially when combined with his professional acting skills, making him an invaluable asset for stealth missions. His transformations are highly versatile; he can shrink to the size of a mouse for reconnaissance, grow to gigantic proportions, stretch his limbs, or even flatten himself against a wall to blend into the environment. He can change his body's composition to mimic materials like stone or metal, though he can still sustain injuries while transformed. In some later story adaptations, his abilities are upgraded to allow him to transform into an astral spirit, enabling him to possess and control other beings entirely.
