Description
Reika Kawatani is a 20-year-old part-time worker living in Onomichi, Hiroshima, who opens the story at 19. She works at an okonomiyaki restaurant, where patrons and her employer praise her cooking skills. Saving money to attend school and become a photo restoration artist, financial hurdles and personal setbacks delay her plans.

Her family history profoundly influences her. Her parents divorced during her high school years, leading her father to leave the family; she previously used the surname Tamaki. Her mother died two years before the main story, leaving Reika without family support. These losses fuel her isolation and hesitance to embrace change.

In appearance, Reika has light skin, light brown hair typically in a low ponytail, and brown eyes. Her bangs and forelocks recall Momoko from *Ojamajo Doremi*. She dresses boyishly, favoring her signature outfit: an oversized pale yellow Adidas hoodie with orange and white accents, loose denim shorts, white socks featuring an orange ring, and orange sneakers with white details.

Initially passive and lacking confidence, Reika struggles to confront personal challenges. This is clearest in her relationship with boyfriend Seiya Kubo, whom she met after being captivated by his guitar playing. Seiya repeatedly breaks promises, enters her apartment uninvited, and steals money from her school savings. Though aware she should end things, Reika initially fails to assert herself, even giving him money under pressure.

Her development unfolds through bonds formed with Mire Yoshizuki and Sora Nagase. They meet by chance at a Kamakura building rumored to inspire *Ojamajo Doremi*'s MAHODO. Reika shares her connection to the series, naming Aiko Senoo as her favorite character due to their shared parental divorce. She carries a blue Magic Sphere symbolizing this affinity, bonding with the others over their fandom.

During a Golden Week trip to Takayama, Mire urges Reika to use her Magic Sphere to wish for a reunion with her father. Reika finds him at a hospital, but he dismisses her as a stranger. This painful rejection sparks an argument with Mire, prompting Reika to return to Hiroshima alone. Later, Mire intervenes when Seiya tries to extort money, physically defending Reika. This empowers Reika to finally end the relationship decisively: she snatches her apartment keys from Seiya and warns him never to return.

Reconciling with Mire afterward, Reika reveals her Magic Sphere was a gift from her father. Mire then invites her to move to Tokyo, supporting her educational goals. By the story's end, Reika joins Mire and Sora to open Café MAHODO in the Kamakura building where they first met.
