Description
Kakeru Tengenji is a student at Ayanagi Gakuen who transferred from the Vocal Department to become a Musical Department candidate. Assigned to Team Otori, he resides in dormitory room 205. Hailing from a noble family with a deep Kabuki tradition, he was an established Kabuki actor from childhood, an upbringing that fuels his elite self-perception and tendency to look down on those he deems inferior. He is honest and blunt, often expressing displeasure openly, which can border on insulting. Yet he harbors a softer side, particularly toward cats, and secretly keeps a black cat named Tavian in his room, calling cats angels and displaying uncharacteristic gentleness around them.

He has short red hair with longer bangs parted to the right, red eyes, and stands 175 cm tall. His school uniform is typically worn with an unbuttoned blazer and loose tie. During training, he wears a red v-neck shirt, a black zip hoodie tied around his waist with white trim, cropped black pants, and black dance shoes. To avoid recognition from reporters due to his Kabuki fame, he often wears glasses off-campus.

Tengenji initially dismisses Hoshitani Yuta as talentless and urges him to quit Team Otori, but after Hoshitani and Nayuki Toru help locate his missing cat, his attitude shifts and he begins offering Hoshitani advice, forming a grudging friendship. He respects Nayuki Toru’s abilities, though a misunderstanding occurs when Nayuki overhears Tengenji speaking affectionately to Tavian and mistakes it for a romantic conversation. He frequently argues with Tsukigami Kaito over conflicting opinions, yet they maintain mutual professional respect. His interactions with Ugawa Akira are tense and sometimes physical, often provoked by Ugawa’s insults toward their team. With Nayuki Yuki and Tsumugi, his relationship begins with sharp exchanges but evolves into playful teasing.

Having never eaten fast food until a particular incident and with little prior experience socializing with peers, Tengenji adapts gradually to team life. He excels academically, with reports praising his genius but occasionally noting poor cooperation. Each morning he changes Tavian’s water, though he denies owning a cat publicly. He prefers Japanese cuisine, clear weather, and his family’s home-brewed coffee. He travels by car and deals with stress by venting it outright.

Through his journey, he learns to value teamwork and friendship, influenced especially by Hoshitani. He performs solos like "World of Flowers" and "Angel Lost," and group pieces including "Hanamichi ∞ Go All Out!!" and "Gift ~Curtain Call~." In the graduation play "Shadow & Lights," he plays Hardy, a glamorous poster dancer, showcasing his artistic growth. Alternate scenarios depict him in roles such as a concierge, baseball player, or mafia member, and in the AYANAGI Animal Park series, his motif is a cat.

His surname Tengenji means "heaven," "blossom," and "temple," while Kakeru means "soar." His zodiac sign is Leo. Often called "Waka," "Young Noble," or "Tengenji-sama" in reference to his status, he demonstrates loyalty to his team and a capacity for growth, becoming a key part of Team Otori.
