Description
Astro Boy, known in Japan as Atom, is the central character of the franchise. He is a powerful robot created to resemble a young boy, typically depicted as being around thirteen years old. His background is rooted in tragedy, as he was built by Dr. Umatarō Tenma, the head of the Ministry of Science, to be a replacement for his deceased son, Tobio, who was killed in a traffic accident. Although Dr. Tenma initially treated the robot as his son, he eventually became frustrated because the robot child could not age or grow like a human. As a result, he abandoned the creation, selling him to a cruel robot circus run by a man named Hamegg.
Astro Boy’s life changes when he is discovered at the circus by Professor Ochanomizu, the new head of the Ministry of Science.
