Live action TV
Description
Mark Curran is the protagonist of the live‑action television film G‑Saviour, set in the Universal Century timeline of the Gundam franchise. A former mobile suit pilot for the Congress of Settlement Nations (CONSENT), he retired from military service after a traumatic incident that left him haunted by the loss of his comrades. Seeking a quieter life, he takes up work as a salvage operator for Hydro‑Gen, an independent research facility located at the Deep Face Trench on Earth. He is engaged to Mimi Devere, a woman who later becomes entangled in the conflict.

Mark’s personality is defined by a deep‑seated reluctance to return to combat. He carries the weight of his past experiences and initially avoids piloting mobile suits, preferring to stay out of the escalating tensions between CONSENT and the neutral Settlement of Gaea. However, his innate sense of duty and his protective instincts compel him to act when circumstances force his hand. He is pragmatic and resourceful, able to assess dangerous situations quickly and take decisive action when innocent lives are at stake.

His motivations shift from simple self‑preservation to a broader commitment to justice. After saving CONSENT lieutenant Tim Holloway during a harvesting run, Mark becomes entangled in a conspiracy involving a revolutionary enzyme that can grow food underwater, capable of ending the global food shortage. He helps the Gaean scientist Cynthia Graves escape from his former superior, Lieutenant Colonel Jack Halle, and learns of CONSENT’s plan to suppress the enzyme in order to enforce a policy of selective starvation. Determined to prevent this atrocity, Mark agrees to pilot a prototype mobile suit, the G‑Saviour, supplied by his old acquaintance Philippe San Simeone of the private paramilitary organization known as the Illuminati.

In the story, Mark serves as the reluctant hero who leads the defense of Gaea against overwhelming CONSENT forces. He pilots the G‑Saviour with skill and determination, engaging in direct combat with Jack Halle and his elite MS‑Rai unit. His role is central to the film’s climax, where he defeats Jack and disables the remaining enemy forces, allowing the Gaeans to preserve their independence.

Mark’s key relationships include Cynthia Graves, a scientist who becomes his close ally and eventual romantic interest; Mimi Devere, his fiancée whose jealousy leads her to sabotage the Gaean defense and later betray the group; Jack Halle, his former commander turned bitter enemy who frames Mark for murder; and Philippe San Simeone, an influential friend who provides critical support and the G‑Saviour itself. The interactions with these characters drive Mark’s development from a man trying to escape his past into a decisive leader willing to risk everything for a cause larger than himself.

Notable abilities include his exceptional piloting skills, honed during his years as a CONSENT mobile suit pilot. He demonstrates proficiency in both atmospheric and space combat, able to adapt quickly to the advanced G‑Saviour’s modular systems. His combat experience gives him an edge in tactical decision‑making, and he proves capable of inspiring others to rally behind him in desperate situations. Despite his initial hesitation, his bravery and resilience ultimately define him as a capable and selfless fighter.
