Description
Dokugasman is a criminal robot deployed by the organization BAD in the series Robot Keiji. He possesses a military-style, moss-green body and a face that closely resembles a gas mask, a design that reflects his primary function as an assassin. His background is that of a hired weapon, a tool used by BAD to carry out high-stakes crimes for profit. Dokugasman is introduced in the narrative as a demonstration of BAD’s capabilities, first stealing four billion yen from a racetrack to prove his effectiveness before contracting with a human businessman to rob an armored cash transport truck.
In terms of personality, Dokugasman is confident, bold, and ruthless. He does not hesitate to use lethal force against both humans and machines to achieve his objectives. He displays a pragmatic, businesslike attitude toward his contracts, but his cruelty is evident in his willingness to destroy a witness’s home by flooding it with flammable gas and igniting it. He is also somewhat theatrical, publicly announcing himself and taking pride in his abilities.
His motivations are strictly professional: he carries out BAD’s assignments without personal ambition, serving as a mercenary robot who eliminates obstacles and secures illicit profits for the organization. In the story, he acts as a recurring threat during a specific episode, where his actions drive the investigation and force the protagonist, K, into a difficult fight. He targets a young witness and his father to destroy photographic evidence, leading to a direct confrontation.
Key relationships are limited to his interactions with his human client and his adversary, K. He treats his human contractor with a mix of authority and menace, ensuring compliance through intimidation. His conflict with K forms the core of his role, as K must overcome Dokugasman’s toxic arsenal and flight capabilities to stop him. Dokugasman does not undergo significant character development; he remains a specialized instrument of BAD’s criminal operations until his destruction.
His most notable abilities include the emission of a potent poison gas from his mouth and four vents on his upper torso. This gas can kill humans instantly and even corrode K’s metallic body. The gas is also highly flammable, allowing Dokugasman to ignite it with a burner on his right hand to create explosions. He possesses strong flight capability, enabling him to engage in aerial combat, though his hand-to-hand fighting skills are less formidable. Despite this, his gas-based attacks make him especially dangerous in enclosed spaces, where he once trapped both K and a human partner. He is ultimately defeated when K uses a powerful flying kick called the Megaton Flight to knock him from the air, followed by a blast from K’s robot destruction gun.
