Description
Jagi is the second youngest of the four sons adopted by Ryuken, the master of Hokuto Shinken. Raised alongside Raoh, Toki, and Kenshiro, Jagi was trained in the deadly martial art but was always the least skilled among the brothers. He believed deeply that a younger brother must never surpass an older one and was consumed by resentment when Ryuken chose Kenshiro as the 64th successor of Hokuto Shinken. Unable to accept this decision, Jagi attacked Kenshiro with a shotgun, but Kenshiro defended himself and gravely disfigured Jagi's face. Kenshiro spared his life, but Jagi's face was left permanently deformed, held together by metal plates and wires, and he was forced to wear a helmet to hide his appearance. This disfigurement deepened his bitterness and sparked a relentless desire for revenge.

Jagi's personality is defined by jealousy, insecurity, and a ruthless willingness to cheat. He compensates for his martial inferiority by using guns, hidden needles, and other dirty tricks. He suffers from an inferiority complex and is deeply self-conscious about his scarred face. His motivations are driven by a need to prove himself superior to Kenshiro and to claim the power and recognition he believes he was denied. To this end, he impersonates Kenshiro by carving seven scars into his own chest, imitating the Big Dipper pattern, and committing brutal atrocities in Kenshiro's name. He manipulates Shin into kidnapping Yuria, Kenshiro's love, and later kidnaps Rei's younger sister Airi, selling her into slavery. These actions paint him as a remorseless and vengeful antagonist.

In the story, Jagi serves as one of Kenshiro's early major enemies, a personal foe whose actions directly trigger several plotlines. His role is to illustrate the depths of jealousy and the corruption of the Hokuto Shinken teachings. Key relationships include his adoptive brothers: he resents Kenshiro above all, fears and respects Raoh, and holds a rivalry with Toki. He also interacts with Shin, whom he manipulates, and Rei, who hunts him for the kidnapping of Airi. Jagi undergoes little positive development; his arc is a descent further into evil and obsession, culminating in his final confrontation with Kenshiro. Despite his schemes, he is ultimately defeated and killed by Kenshiro, who remarks that a gruesome death befits him.

Notable abilities include his training in Hokuto Shinken, which grants him knowledge of techniques such as Hokuto Senjusatsu, a series of one thousand rapid strikes, and Hokuto Rankangeki, a sequence of palm strikes meant to overwhelm an opponent. He also possesses some knowledge of Nanto Seiken, though his execution of it is clumsy and weak. Beyond these martial arts, Jagi relies heavily on his shotgun, which he uses for intimidation and direct attacks, and on trickery such as spitting hidden needles. He is physically strong and muscular, but his primary strength lies in his cunning and willingness to break the rules of honorable combat.
